All hands on deck: Tim Cook, Craig Federighi address Apple employees on AI, Siri
mikethemartian said:Does Cook realize that the Apple II predated the PC or does he think it all started with the Mac?
But in general I do think it's a shame that the Apple II receives so little love from Apple. That's been a major gripe from Apple II diehards for decades.

Apple didn't need AI -- but it did need China -- to beat analysts' doom and gloom

The concerns about AI are not about earnings next quarter or even next year. It's about 18 months and further out.
One thing I'm very confident of -- Apple leadership is not as myopic as the fanboy base. They've known for a while now that they've got a problem, they just haven't solved it yet. One way or another, I'm pretty confident the problem will be solved. But it won't be solved by pretending it doesn't exist.
Apple will do what it very nearly always does, which is what the analysts in question always, always fail to see -- Iterate until they have something that they like. No visibility as to what Apple is doing does not mean that Apple is not working on it.At this point in the AI lack of maturity, not having a product that really utilizes generative AI is not really an issue. If Apple doesn't do anything in a year or two, then maybe it's an issue.Turns out, that's not what happened.
There were plenty of concerns about the quarter due to tariffs and China, but not AI. The concern about AI is in the future. I don't see what advantage there is in making stuff up like this. It just seems silly. -

- Sales down doomed in China again for the last dozen years.
- Apple behind in AI their competitors are ahead whatever that means (behind even those companies who have no OS and no hardware).
- Designing that Apple modem is a waste of time.
- Why can’t Apple be like HP and Dell and just design hardware?
- Tim Cook sucks….
- Apple should buy a movie studio Paramount?, or a AI company Perplexity?, or some other AI company for billions of dollars doesn’t matter who.
- The Verge writes its normal Geek Chic Apple is perpetually doomed unless they do what the Verge thinks is right since 2008.

Note: If you are a shareholder long Apple, you are used to discounting the noise, however if you were a casual retail investor, you are bombarded and confused and the same applies to many other people on some of the non Apple Tech sites.
No wonder Apple stock goes through the same repeating pattern of stalling before earnings reports and after and then slowly crawls up over-time a wash rinse and repeat pattern.
