Great that they are trying to beef up the GPUs in the MBP 15s, but they should have let customers know this was coming 3 months ago before we bought into the newest high end machines. A lot of people and corporations already made their purchases of high end MacBook Pro 2018s after the announcement. Loyal customers, such as myself, will be a bit miffed if Apple does not offer an upgrade path or at least an Apple Store discount on an eGPU for the existing 560X machines.

I'm not usually subject to Early Adopter Disgruntled Syndrome (EADS), but in this case, I'm pissed I bought a top of the line MBP i9 when released. I suggest those who did contact Apple and make some noise to see if they will offer a trade up upgrade program for the new GPU models or discount on eGPUs to early purchasers.

Lightning is way more durable than USB-C. If you want your iPad or iPhone port to eventually fail, then USB-C is the way to go.

Exactly. That’s why there’s so much misinformation here.

That’s a great breakdown of market share, but I’d like to know Apple’s profit share of the PC market. I have not researched this, but based on their profit share of the smartphone market and their prices, I’m willing to bet it’s a much better ratio than any of the PC makers.
