  • Woman sues Apple for hosting 'gambling apps' after spending thousands on in-game currency

While I have no problem seeing that gambling as such is a real problem - and is scientifically designed to exploit our weaknesses and get us to part with (a lot of) money through a variety of mechanisms - there are parts of the argument that sounds very strange:

Furthermore, it argues that credits which are "recorded and allow one to extend play" are a thing of value.'

Paying for being allowed to play more would be a general mechanism that does not equal gambling in my book: Classic flipper machines and arcade machines are categories where this has always been the case.

  • New macOS Catalina 10.15.7 update fixes 27-inch iMac graphical corruption issue

I've never experienced the graphical problem on my new 27" with that graphics card (5700XT 16 GB). I've got 64 GB RAM, though.

WiFi has been a bit unstable - unlike the 2013 iMac it replaced - so I hope I will no longer find that everything trying to use a network is stuck, with the fix being to turn WiFi off, then on again.

  • Netatmo announces European availability of HomeKit video doorbell

The dealbreaker for me is that it isn't battery powered, but requires cables. My house doesn't have that - so I'm still waiting for a HomeKit enabled wireless doorbell running on battery power (if they add solar, all the better).

I currently have a Ring video doorbell that is 4.5 years old, but I want one that supports HomeKit. This would also avoid the yearly fee Ring charges.

  • Compared: Apple's 2020 iPad Air versus 2020 11-inch iPad Pro

Cook mentioned upgrading the whole line multiple times... Maybe they're just delaying the iPad Pro a little bit so it can share the 5G/Apple silicon thunder?

  • Spotify says Apple One bundle is a 'threat to collective freedom' [u]

Apple releases a bundle to attract more customers. Oh my God! It’s the end of Spotify were to greedy to lower or prices in competition!

Given the state of Spotify profits, saying they are greedy would be pushing it... Most of their costs are licensing costs to the music industry (around 75%), so they're not free to lower it either.

Using a dominant position in one market to gain market share in another is usually considered bad - in particular, I guess bundling it with iCloud storage. If they just bundled it with AppleTV+ I don't think Spotify (or customers) would care.
