  • Apple is pushing its services, but iOS is not adware yet

the 5GiB free tier on iCloud issue is beyond ludicrous at this point. I say this as a 2TB subscriber. I really, really don't understand why Apple doesn't just bite the bullet and offer every iOS user - every person who has at least one iPhone and/or iPad - 1TB free in iCloud. Yes, FREE. You couldn't ask for a sweeter incentive, nor could you design a more ingenious way of fully locking people in to the ecosystem. But noooooooooo we have the same free 5Gb offered to people as we did ... ok guys. Way to think short term.

  • Video demonstrates Hackintosh potential, but still isn't the Mac Pro

I'm a die hard Apple-ite, but I use Hackintosh - but not to get a Pro substitute - I'd rather save up for a Pro (which I absolutely don't need btw) - no, I Hackintosh because Apple will never make a mid-tier PC, also known as the xMac. I love it, and as one guy who isn't on a production workflow it works brilliantly as my home desktop and server. Of course, using my MacBook Pro (2018) always feels spiritually better, haha. But they get on absolutely fine, even with AirDrop and all that (courtesy of some actual Apple silicon inside my Hack providing AirPort and Bluetooth goodness)

  • Kanye West pitches Apple-designed Air Force One 'iPlane' replacement in oval office

You've got to admire his tenacity, if nothing else. And, though I don't agree with what has been described as his "politics", that hasn't stopped me from enjoying his latest musical output - but I never expected it to.

It seems like to me that Ye neglects his real areas of expertise, i.e. music, (and increasingly, fashion - damn I want me some Yeezys, to be truly real here) because he wants the validation of a different crowd. Rich, old white people mainly. Viewed from this perspective, it's kinda sad. To me, there's nothing higher than a great musician. That's it. I mean, maybe Buddha, Jesus and those guys, but right underneath? Prince, Hendrix, etc.

But even more interestingly, it's clearly Ye's psychological "deficits", such as insecurity, that drive all his creative processes. Looking at this article, it seems he's very much a "throw everything at the wall and see what sticks" guy - and there's nothing wrong with that.

I must admit though, both the name and concept here ... suck. And at what point does Apple reach out and say, "look - you're famous enough, please, stop associating yourself with us in areas we are not associated" - but they are probably rightfully scared that he would then pull his music from MUSIC.

Last thought, I thought it was kinda cute how we were worrying about Ye's simple passcode there- that's probably his XS he uses solely for showing Trump things, and thanks to Apple's ingenuity, if you're hella rich I can see how losing or having your iPhone stolen would matter for all of a couple of hours. Whereas someone like me would need months to replace it, not to mention mounting a terrifying campaign of revenge and intimidation against the perps.

[edit] Umm, I thought this through and music is spirituality to me, so those guys are all on the same level, JAMMIN'.

  • How to create your own Dynamic Desktops in macOS Mojave

mmm.... I swear they're getting even more locky-downy... and they are pretty much THE locky-downy tech company. I mean, not even allowing us to hack together a Dynamic Desktop? What monsters are these people? Good alternative though AI.

  • Kanye West makes bizarre claim about the 'YZY' brand being part of Apple

The man really should be committed.
to be fair, there aren't many more committed than Ye. And - his PR exploits range from harmless to amusing. And his music is pretty unfailingly great. I like artists.
