  • Samsung's Galaxy Ring is out, but it won't be a problem for the Apple Ring

It won't be a problem because I don't see Apple bringing this to market. What would a ring do that Apple Watch can't or doesn't already do?
Sleep tracking. Watch is too much of a presence to wear at night more than once in a while…Toe ring???😏
Launch a specific product for more convenient sleep tracking? I get that some people wish to have this data, but is there a market for just this? If Apple is going to make a ring, it has to do a lot more than be a sensor, and I have a hard time imagining what it could be. Comparatively, this was easy to do with AVP - application possibilities were quite easy to imagine. Not so with a ring. Some sort of haptic feedback off a phone? A microphone to turn it into that wearable thing with no screen (forget the goofy name)? This appears to be tech looking for a problem to solve.

Idea: instead of making robots to make iPhones, maybe make a robot that can make robots.
Oh wow!  Nobody. Nobody has ever thought of that before.  Your insight is dazzling.

(Sorry, but you threw that softball right in the middle of the strike zone.)

No apology needed. What is even more insightful is that robots to make robots has been done long ago. We call them “slaves.” Simple and efficient. Still in use widely today. They work for peanuts.

  • Bento breakdown: what Apple wants you to know about watchOS 11

I do get how the cycle tracking could be valuable to certain individuals. OT here, but I cringe a bit when this comes up in Apple Events, as I immediately wonder what Apple will do when they receive valid subpoenas for this data from a state prosecutor enforcing a suspected violation of...well...you know....
I’m not positive but I believe your Health info is end-to-end encrypted and Apple can’t provide access to it (or maybe only with your permission?).
Might be the case, sure. Would be nice if they could actually say that when discussing it. And of course, in theory, it is protected by HIPAA, but like many things in the law these days, it really is more like the Pirate Code - mostly just guidelines.

Lot's to like here too; particularly "pause rings." Apple Watch's motivational features can be very demotivational when you're sick or need a day off training. Being reminded I'm sick, and being penalized for training correctly kinda sucks.
