  • iPhone 15 Pro will have blistering performance, claims leaked benchmarks

Will I have to talk faster now? Will speed dial take less than the quarter second it does now on my 2020 SE? Will I be able to watch a two hour movie in one hour?

It's a PHONE, not a supercomputer, or a game console.
I sorta get the faux-outrage, but for many, their "phone" is their only device. They do indeed use it as a computer and a game console.

The real question is what will Apple use this additional performance capability for?
Exactly right. But it's worth remembering that Apple keeps upping the processor horsepower of the iPad with no real use for it other than marketing.
I'm not completely sure about this, as it seems reasonable to invest in chip improvements, and when they are available, use them as widely across the entire product line. Why have assembly lines for multiple products when one can make all the necessary components for all products? But as other have commented, I don't see this minor upgrade as a selling point to upgrade from 14 to 15. That said...it *is* a selling point for me, as I will be going to the 15 from my current Xr. I expect a noticeable upgrade in overall performance...even if I am not making movies or photoshopping on it.

  • Apple Mixed Reality headset rumored to launch at WWDC 2023

It could carry a price tag as high as $3,000.

We laughed at a $14,000 iWatch rumor. And yet...we knew they would sell at least some of those; and knew what they would do and who would be buying. Unlike...

I do wonder where those gold edition apple watches are today. In a sealed box as in investment?

  • Apple wants a bigger piece of the smart home hardware market

Hey, maybe if Apple wants a bigger share of home computer gear they could make wifi equipment (eg the Apple Airport).) You know, the stuff everyone needs, wants, and Apple is very qualified to make secure and trustworthy with a built in Apple run VPN.

I'll buy a new Apple TV when it comes with a coax antenna jack that feeds an ATSC 3.0 tuner(s). Since that ain't happening, I don't see ever buying a new one. Apple wants people to pay for ATV+ subscriptions, not watch OTA broadcasts for free (like NFL games on CBS, Fox, NBC.) Unless...wait for it...ATV+ subscriptions come with bundled OTA DVR services. Given the plight of Aereo and Locast, I kinda don't see Apple wanting to take on that legal issue again.

  • Apple Fellow Phil Schiller quits Twitter

I quit twitter, but did not "deactivate." I unfollowed everyone and deleted the app on all my devices. My understanding is if you deactivate and then don't access the account for 30 days, the account is essentially removed, but twitter keeps your "data" and makes the username available to others. If you simply abandon it by not accessing, I think the user name stays assigned, but of course by following no one there's no advantage to anyone on the platform. Other than it is is one more claimed "user" to sell to advertisers.

    Either way, I'm out.

  • Apple's Emergency SOS is coming in November, after $450M investment

So...it only works if you have an emergency in the US or Canada?
