Apple Notes hides flexibility and power underneath a veneer of simplicity
I truly wanted to love Notes because of its user-friendly potential, but after experiencing serious syncing bugs with even a very small library, it was far more hassle and stress than it was worth. I feel it's much better to pay a few bucks to a serious software developer who treats my information with more care. I have happily used the desktop version of Together for several years, and I recently upgraded to DevonThink Pro as part of a robust test of the Devon ecosystem. I'm very happy with Devon so far. My worst Apple Notes problem was with nested folder structure – it would recreate lower-level files and folders even after I deleted them. I watched them magically reappear. Not cool. Even casual users should be careful with the information they trust to Notes.
