  • Apple's wearable division now the size of a Fortune 300 company

But … but Rogifan said buying Beats was a mistake! 😱
Rogifan is usually pretty quiet after earnings announcements. It takes awhile to figure out the whining angle...

  • Apple plans new $100B share buyback program, raises dividends by 16 percent

Screw the buyback. Buy more businesses which are crucial to Apple's operations and to them completely owning their product, from A-to-Z. How about buying up cell towers to lease back to the cellular providers if they're not going to buy a cellular service provider itself? Or go into business with Elon Musk's satellite Internet based company? Or buy up the mineral and mining operations which extract the rare earth materials used to make the batteries they require?
This is exactly why Apple is doing the right thing, in giving the money back to the shareholders. Otherwise, in the future, there is the possibility that someone like yourself would come in and destroy the company by carelessly throwing all the money away on large acquisitions that almost never turn out (see any large tech purchase in the last 2 decades.

  • Apple Watch heart rate monitor saves Florida teen's life

When the Apple Watch gets a little more medically aware and stories like this one spread Apple won't be able to make enough of them. They will be flying off the shelves. So much for the negative blathering here about how the Watch doesn't do anything more than the iPhone and is therefore useless and redundant and won't sell and is a fail for Apple. Millions will be wearing them. Oh wait, they already are!
You think so? There were monitors like that 10-15 years ago for half price. In fact I bought one and sent overseas for family member with terminal ilness. Nothing new. Yes they will be sold because of hype - not because of some special features that are new on the market. Thise hear rate monitors were not cool at the time - Apple watch is cool and in fashion. That is it. Nothing more.
Jesus what absolute bullshit. How do you come up with it every day? Too bad Apple doesn’t have an ulcer detecting device, you may have one.

Show us what one of these half-priced HR monitors from 15 years ago looked like, please — I want to see whether it’s size was nearly as small and thus encouraging of use. Also, how many were in use?
The absolute stupidity of people like him is depressing at times...

If you truly believe that (and are not just trolling), then you have a serious cognitive impairment.

  • Intel 10nm Cannon Lake delays push potential 32GB MacBook Pro into 2019

Apple may have to make a 1” thick 5 lb laptop again for people who want >32 GB in a laptop...
That was me before I got the current generation MacBook Pro. I didn't care if my computer was thin or light. I just wanted a powerful, well-equipped computer and considered Apple's concessions to power and heat misguided.

Now that I have a thin, light, power-efficient, quiet computer, I wouldn't want to go back. For me, the reduction in fan noise compared to my old MBP is enough to justify the upgrade all by itself. Factor in the reduced weight of the kit I lug around and the comfort of it not ever getting too hot to hold comfortably (which the old one did) and the result is one user who's been won over by Apple's weight and watt conservation.

I'm in the group that will actually buy a 32GB RAM version whenever it becomes available, but I really wouldn't want to give up the improvements offered by the current models to get it. So, I'll wait another year.
Interesting to here from someone who changed their viewpoint, from wanting the "power luggable", to preferring the thin/light/quiet tradeoff which is the 2016/7 MBP once it was experienced for a period of time.  Do you find the 16GB limit has much impact on your work?

I need to upgrade, so only concern is on the keyboard (will determine if I get the 2017 version or a 2015 model).
