  • Verizon to redirect calls in last-ditch effort to deter Samsung Galaxy Note 7 users

Why go through all this? Tell not them you're going to kill their number on this phone and they won't be able to get it reactivated unless it's a different phone?
They could simply "deactivate" the SIM and or blacklist the IMEI.  I think that would still allow for 911 calls.  But that's more likely to piss off a customer to the point of switching carriers.  At least this way they're redirected to CS and a person can 'splain it to them, get them in touch with sales, and get them to get a new phone.  It's damage control.

  • Apple having trouble syncing audio between wireless AirPods - report

Maybe they will bring that earphone jack back again ?
It already has an earphone jack.  It's an adapter that plugs in to the lightning jack.  Included or $9 if you need another.  You don't even kmow it's there when you're using it.

LOL! Month's overdue and 3x more expensive than BT earbuds that blow them away.
What BT earbuds that cost $53 blow away AirPods?
Mantone QY8 BT buds produce sound twice as good as Apple EarPods and cost under $20. It's a known fact Apple makes junky sounding uncomfortable ill fitting earbuds which is why discerning uses immediately replace them. Word is AirPods sound just as junky as EarPods and people are going to lose one or the other in the droves.
Those aren't wireless.  I have several cheap BT neckbuds.  None of them are wireless.
Let's keep the thing the thing, here. This is about wireless earbuds, not just bluetooth earbuds of which there are many better and cheaper solutions than Airpods as well as EVERY wireless earbud on the market or promised to be available soon.  Wireless earbuds require the audio between the two to have redundant and independent electronics and radios and the ability to keep sound in sync whereas wired BT buds require only much cheaper electronics and a wire for two ear audio deliver.

So is the conversation about bluetooth earbuds?  Then the conversation ends here and if you can live with a wire, you'll darn well do better for your money.
If it's about wireless earbuds, then Airpods hold their own and are at minimum on-par with competition.

  • Apple defends decision to ditch 3.5mm jack, says AirPods development began years ago

I wonder how long it'll take someone to come up with an iPhone case that has a headphone jack built in (built in dongle.)

Why couldn't they have said this? They dismissed it with "courage" which even made me cringe and ridiculed ancient technology (which by the way is still very effective.) They could have easily said that the larger improve camera, battery, and taptic engine required us to finally say goodbye to this space hogging port without making the phone huge.
