Right to Repair will never be effectively legislated, until it is fully defined
Isn't this "issue" being pushed by special interests? As soon as you bring up Rossmann, iFixit, etc., who want to promote their own independent repair and parts businesses, the patina about "consumer rights" vanishes. There's no "rights" here - just businesses who don't want to become a manufacturer-authorized repair business. Sure, there are a couple of bearded geeks who want to iFixit All The Things, but that's not what Rossmann's (and others) lobbying is about. -

I don't think it would harm Apple really hard, but it would bring freedom to the platform.
When Apple allows third party app stores, it could be done with maintaining the iOS security model (only app review is done by another company).
You'd think Epic would go after Xbox and PlayStation walled gardens in court, but nah, why do that when they can tap into the wellspring of animosity from people who wish Apple just used Android? -
