  • Here are all the big new features & changes in iOS 13.3 & iPadOS 13.3

I am the type of guy that performs clean installs of every major upgrade, and I can tell you that doing so has not stopped my email app from being horrible in iOS 13.
Clean install or not, Mail is awful. Searches rarely work, and if I try reading an email for more than 2.7 seconds, suddenly every email I’ve got opens alongside my already open email.

This behavior makes Mail completely and utterly unusable. I switched to Edison last year and haven’t looked back: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/email-edison-mail/id922793622

  • Microsoft unveils slew of updates coming to Office 365 apps

Outlook is fine as long as everyone in the world you need to collaborate with is also using Outlook.
Oh hell. Outlook is anything but fine. It’s the most god awful email client in the history of email clients. Okay, Lotus Notes might actually be worse, but nobody outside of IBM uses that crap while brain dead IT managers all over the world force Outlook upon us because they don’t know any better.

First of all, as far as I know it’s the only email client out there (other than Notes) that uses a proprietary (and somewhat fragile) file format, while ever other client uses the standard mbox format. If your pst file gets corrupted, you’d better help the recovery tool is able to work its magic, otherwise you’re screwed. And why the hell can you not search multiple pst files at once?

And when is the Mac version going to be feature-compatible with the Windows version??

  • Editorial: Samsung hasn't copied Apple TV+ yet, but it's only a matter of time

You're forgetting that Samsung bought, and then sadly killed off, the really excellent Boxee platform! I'm surprised they didn't do anything with it yet.
I didn’t realize that Samsung had bought Boxee. I loved that platform and had hacked my first-gen Apple TV to run it. Logitech released the bizarre-looking Boxee Box and the platform went downhill pretty quickly after that.

*opps - apparently it was D-Link that released the Boxee Box

  • Netflix says Apple TV+, others to accelerate transition away from traditional TV

I for one, don’t care for streaming services like DTV Now, Hulu, PSVue, etc. the limitation of how many streams and then add on premium content and it’s not much cheaper.

Oh I’m afraid I have to disagree. When we were on Comcast, our monthly bill was over $250. That gave us TV with no premium channels, home phone, and Internet that was capped at 1TB of data (which we actually bumped up against every month, largely because my wife and I work from home full-time), 300mb down and about 12mb up.

We’ve now got gigabit fiber from our local telco (which gives us almost 900mb down *and* up, with no data cap) for $75 for life, Hulu Live (which also gives us their no-commercial streaming plan) for about $60, and Ooma Premium for our home phone which runs $15/month. Our total bill is now $100 less, the Internet is sooooo much better, the picture quality is better than we had with Comcast, plus we get the streaming content (which is great), and Ooma gives us more functionality than we had before (great telemarketing blocking, voicemails sent via email and text, two lines, an app that rings our mobiles when the home phone rings, and more).

so for about 40% less than we were paying before, we get much better service. Plus, and best of all, the slimiest company in the history of the world is no longer getting a dime from us.

  • Mac shipments grow slightly, but Apple's PC market share shrinks [u]

Guess I'm just one of the million iMac users that "don't count," as we should have gotten rid of those pesky 32 bit apps.
I'm holding off a little longer as well until I find suitable replacements. Aperture is a particular holdout.

That said, I also realize that moving forward requires sacrifices. Look how crappy Windows has historically been. Much of that is because of Microsoft's need to continue compatibility with old apps to keep their corporate customers pleased. I'm glad Apple is moving forward, even though it's going to cause me some pain.
