  • Review: Yale Assure Lever brings HomeKit to all door locks

Batteries where traditionally no battery is required (pure mechanical solution) is a problem for me.
I hope future versions will have some sort of a solar sell or integrated charger (hook up to usb) because with all these smart solutions charging becomes a full time job.
I bought the z-wave version of this for our home and opted for a model with a key that can be used as a backup. I don't like the idea of not being able to get in to my house because the batteries have died, or because the mechanism fails...

Can it work on our 47 year old mobile home?
    If it has doors :)

Be aware that older homes use a smaller hole for locks. Our (mid-1940's) home has much smaller door holes that need to be enlarged to work with newer locks, including these Yale locks.

However, I ended up returning it after 3 weeks because Windows itself is just not there. It’s very good and MUCH better than it’s ever been, but macOS is so much cleaner, smoother, and overall easier to use and maintain. The trackpad on my MacBook Pro is MASSIVE and absolutely perfect, I’m one of the crazy people that love the feel of the butterfly keys, and the performance is great. The integration with my phone, watch, and Apple TV is the clincher, too.
I think this is the key point. I run Windows 10 daily in a virtual machine on my iMac for some work stuff, and personally find it to be a slight step back from Windows 7 in usability, but regardless - I have always said that Windows 7 is the best OS to come out of Redmond - but that's still like comparing two piles of poop. One might smell less bad than the other, but it still stinks.

  • Apple TV trails behind Roku, other TV platforms in US device sales

The reason people have competing devices, generally, is cost. A Roku or Fire Stick is much cheaper than an TV, but you get what you pay for. We have TVs on our two primary televisions, but I didn't want to spend that much on a device for our seldom-used TV, but we needed something to run the DirecTV Now app since that's our television provider. I picked up a $25 Roku and sent it back three days later. It was unusably slow. Changing between apps took at least ten seconds, and just changing channels within DTV Now took anywhere between 2-5 seconds. When channel surfing, that's unacceptable. I decided to take a chance on an Amazon Fire Stick for roughly the same price. It's decidedly better, but I wouldn't use it on a TV that got more than occasional use.

I'm sure the higher-priced models are better, but then you're eroding that cost savings and not getting the superior experience (Siri Remote, excepted)

Pick up a cheap Bluetooth keyboard. Solved.
Better yet, use the remote app on your phone. When the onscreen keyboard pops up, your phone will automatically get an alert that you tap on and it will bring up a keyboard you can type on. It's fast, and way easier.
