  • Apple TV 4K could be used by big UK cable firm as set-top box

Having switched a few weeks ago from Comcrap to DirecTV Now, we are effectively using a couple of Apple TVs as our set-top boxes. The X1 system was pretty good, but I don't really miss it (nor do I miss being screwed over by Comcast's horrible pricing).

The Apple TV still needs a better remote (preferably one that allows you to directly access channels), but we're otherwise quite happy with it! (To be fair, however, I've been using an Apple TV since the original pizza box)

  • Evernote might be in trouble, so here's how to get your notes out of it completely and saf...

I’m not a Evernote user anymore ever since they started charging for sync (never take away crucial features, as it will turn users against you)j. Still, all this news on the internet about the possible end of Evernote may well start an exodus of their remaining customers and seal the deal. The rumour mill is dangerous.
Likewise, when they stopped allowing more than two devices without paying, that's when I dropped. During my more extensive use of Evernote, I paid for a premium account. But when Apple started syncing Notes through iCloud I found a large part of my need for Evernote faded away. I used Evernote for two things - syncing simple text between devices (which Notes has replaced) and for keeping other items (such as receipts and documents) organized, and for that I switched to Devonthink Pro.

If Evernote fades away, I will be sorry to see them go. But I also won't be entirely surprised.

Ironic that, on one hand they question why someone would want to FaceTime with up to 32 people, but on the other, don't question why someone would want to go through the pain of trying to write/draw anything significant on a phone-sized device.
...annnnnnd this is exactly what I came here to say. You beat me to it :) I have a side gig in a retail-type environment where we have a pen we can use for out iPad-based POS system. I can count on one hand the number of times I've tried it, and I can count on zero fingers the number of times it's been useful and/or not-painful.

  • 15-inch 2018 MacBook Pro compared - which upgrades are worth it?

    > If you edit long 4K projects....

You are not using a laptop. You are using a desktop machine.

Sorry techie boyz, but actual video pros do not use mobile devices as their final output devices.
Not necessarily. There are mobile pros out there who have to perform their post-production work out in the field, especially if they work in TV and getting their content out is time-sensitive.

  • Apple sued by patent troll over 'Do Not Disturb While Driving' tech

Just don’t answer the darn phone while driving, much like DUI.....dont drive while drunk, BUT some still does. Useless feature to me
...except that this feature, when active, also sends a reply automatically letting the originator know that you cannot reply because you're driving. I agree that simply not responding to texts while driving is a great idea, but having my phone respond automatically makes this feature useful.
