macOS 26 says goodbye to the classic hard drive icon
Goddam, what has happened to Apple’s graphic design? That thing is truly horrendous. As others have noted, why is the perspective all wrong? It doesn’t even look like anything.
I’d rather keep the old technology spinning magnetic hard drive than this new seemingly AI slop. At least the old one looks good and has nostalgic value. -
iOS 18.6 arrives with a Photos improvement and bug fixes
williamlondon said:M68000 said:mpantone said:At last it looks like I'll finally be upgrading from iOS 17 to iOS 18 in the next few days. Same with migrating from iPadOS 17 to iPadOS 18 as well as macOS Sonoma to macOS Sequoia.
As usual I will wait until at least June 2026 to install iOS 26/iPadOS 26 and macOS 26 Tahoe.
Given the drastic overhaul of the UI in iOS 26, I can’t see myself upgrading a 14 PM to it for at least 6 months, if at all. I’ve had pretty good battery life lately and I sure as hell don’t want to screw that up. -
Apple sues Jon Prosser over iOS 26 leaks
Talk about petty. Opinions on Liquid Glass are mixed at best and Apple is struggling with Siri and AI. I’ve never watched this Prosser guy but this is just Apple lashing out because of their own failings and picking on someone as a warning to others.
Just about every product Apple makes gets leaked, likely by Apple themselves in many cases (see article about dual iPad cameras FaceTime this). This website reports on most of them. It makes no difference in the scheme of things.

Tim Cook isn't going to get fired, and Steve Jobs isn't rolling over in his grave
I mean, if you have to deny it…
Seems like an overly long defensive article that’s completely unnecessary by its own central argument, so what’s the point? It’s like: “look away, nothing to see here”.
From my perspective and observations. people don’t like Tim Cook, not because his business acumen is bad or anything (it’s not) but if anything because it’s probably too good. He’s a dull, soulless logistics guy doing exactly what the shareholders want: maximising profit. Fair enough having someone like that in the company…but the leader?
There’s just something really off-putting (and sleep-inducing) about the way he speaks too. I haven’t been able to bring myself to watch a keynote in years because of it. Not the sort of qualities you want in a CEO I would’ve thought, but criticism of Apple definitely goes deeper than such superficial trivialities. Ultimately people find themselves getting squeezed amid a cost-of-living crisis.

How to stop your LG or Samsung smart TV from tracking you
Fantastic and insightful article and tips, thank you.
It truly is an Orwellian dystopia we are entering with all of these network-connected devices. ACR is a disgusting practice and should be illegal.
I recall there being robotic vacuums that capture images and (for some reason) audio and transmit it to the company despite claims from the manufacturer that it didn’t happen: they were caught lying. And of course many of these devices are easily hacked. In this case you didn’t even need to be on the network. It had Bluetooth vulnerabilities or something so someone outside could obtain recorded images and sound from your house.
