  • Eddy Cue says Apple Music has 60 million subscribers

How many of these users are Verizon customers such as me? I have Apple Music for "free" as part of my Verizon Wireless service. I hate it. It's awful. Even though I get it for free, I pay for Amazon Music. Apple's curated stations and algorithms that determine song similarity are a joke. For example, I tried to listen to the "Hard Rock" station today. The first song was by The White Stripes...certainly not hard rock or anything even close to being hard rock.

  • Powerbeats Pro or new AirPods -- Which do you buy?

For me, the answer was neither. I bought a set of Jabra Elite 65t's and I love them. Great battery life. Great sound quality. Great fit. 100% wire free...$100 less than the Powerbeats.

  • Editorial: After disrupting iTunes, Spotify demands a free ride from Apple's App Store

I for one, understand why apple did this. They are a hosting service, as well as the platform provider. Spotify knew the TOS when they developed the app and put it on the app store. I also have had the issue where i have gone and paid for a subscription on a site, but then when i went to download the app for the site and use my subscription, the app wouldnt allow me to. i tried to force me to get a new subscription for the app. The way apple is doing it is to ensure the user gets what they pay for.

Sure, but it costs Apple nothing for a service they don't provide. Spotify doesn't use Apple's infrastructure to deliver their service. They use Apple's infrastructure only for distributing their app. Of course, it makes sense that Spotify--and other developers--would have to pay for the upkeep of the App Store. But why should Apple make any money off of a service they don't provide and costs them nothing?

I can see having to pay Apple to use the infrastructure for the app store. Each download from the app store and the maintenance of the app store costs Apple money. But Spotify delivers its service over their own infrastructure. Why should Apple get any of that? It costs them nothing, but yet they want 30% of the service cost?

Seems unreasonable to me. They want something for nothing.

  • AT&T raises DirecTV Now subscription by $10, shakes up packages for new customers

This is absolutely ludicrous. They're awful DVR is still in "beta" 12 months after it was released. It still records shows that I didn't set to record and forgets to record shows that I did set to record. The Roku and iOS apps are a complete disaster from a usability standpoint. Fast forwarding through commercials is a guessing game, since there's no preview of what you are fast forwarding over. The only way to find out if you have a series set to record is by searching for that series, clicking on the series, and then it will tell you if it's set to record or not. There's no list of series recordings. Deleting an existing recording often fails. Showing the guide often fails. The app crashes regularly.

The service is awful. It's not even worth what I'm currently paying. I could go on.

I'm ready to ditch them and get an antenna and something to record OTA broadcasts.
