Why macOS Mojave requires Metal -- and deprecates OpenGL
This still makes no sense at all. There is no reason why Apple can't support their native SDK (Metal) and OpenGL. Microsoft has been doing this for decades with DirectX.
The majority of game developers won't bother with creating Metal versions of their rendering engines. There won't be enough customers to justify it. -
Testing the speed of iOS 11 versus iOS 12 on the iPhone 6 and iPad Mini 2
I realize this isn't the final release of the OS, but...
The results for the mini don't really seem that impressive. You're saving a second here and there on apps that take 15+ seconds to launch. It's nice to see Apple focusing on improving performance, but this will likely do little for those of us who don't buy the latest and greatest. -

Apple's Mac mini now inexcusably getting trounced by cheap Intel hardware
foregoneconclusion said:I think you've answered your own question by buying a NUC that is centered around PC gaming. That's their primary reason for existing, and the prices that include RAM etc. end up very similar to MacBooks and iMacs at the low-end. So why not just buy a MacBook or iMac?
The iMac with 2.3GHz i5, 16 GB RAM, and 256 GB SSD is $1499.
Apple does not have anything that competes with this at this price point.
