    Most government agencies require departments to use up their entire budget every year. If you don’t use up your entire budget, you will not get more money the following year. Tax and spend is the motto of government policy. 

    If person or business acted the same way then the would be out of business. Governments on the other hand can just keep taxing and spending.

    The Ankermake M5 3D printer is excellent, but more expensive at $799. However, it is more of a consumer level device with self leveling and prints at 250mm/s max. I got mine as a Kickstarter, but is available at ankermake.com, from Micro Center, and soon from Best Buy. 

    The M5 comes in three parts: gantry, base, and spool holder. I was able to open the box, attach the gantry to the base, add the spool holder, load the software on my Mac, and start printing in less than an hour. It connected to wi-fi using the app on the phone and updated its own firmware once powered on. 

    The Ankermake software works very well and defaults to an Easy Mode. You can switch to Advanced mode and change all setting for the slicing. I needed to add a Brim to some parts which had minimal contact area with the print bed. 

    If you are not a DIY printer builder the M5 is an excellent product and quite fast to print (although fast is a relative term).

    Windows 11 for ARM has been available for Parallel on Apple Silicon for several months already. I discovered it by accident when an update to Parallels was released back in December 2022. It was a “Would you like to install Windows 11?” after the upgrade. This was full version of Windows 11 and not a preview version. I had to provide a license key.

    Engineering issues are most likely a software one. Apple will need the ability to shutdown a single iPhone without shutting down an entire Apple ID/iCloud account which is what they would have to do today.
