I guess I see it as a way to give the product a different look.
The gleaming white case is perfectly fine, but the leather case shown looks really nice. I’d buy it for its looks, not because it’s a “(protective) case for a case.” -

Belkin has a Continuity Camera MagSafe Mount for monitors now
I spend enough of my workday in Teams calls that I often enough have to have my current MagSafe holder plugged in to keep the phone's charge up. I'd vote for a chargeable version of this.
