  • 'Fortnite' on new iPad mini 5 cements it as a solid gaming device

You've got yours then? I ordered on the day of the announcement - within the first few hours - and delivery slipped back here in the UK. First it was scheduled for 26-28 now 28-2. It’s been on preparing to ship for last 24hrs. Received my iMac and AirPods 2 first. Must be selling well.

  • The Wall Street Journal reportedly joins Apple News service, NYT and Washington Post decli...

I wonder if the service will allow existing subscribers to certain news outlets to log in with their existing id? It would deprive Apple of that extra revenue but it would be annoying to have to use Apple News for those various channels and then safari and visit individual sites for others. Personally I’d certainly rather continue subscribing to The Guardian via their own site but accessing it on Apple news so they can get the full benefit of my support of their coverage.

Nice incremental updates. It would be fun if they do this every day this week as a build up to the event on the 25th.
What do you reckon: macbook tomorrow, AirPods 2 and AirPower Thursday, iPod Friday?

Only the MacBook left needing a bump now. Tomorrow maybe? Although hard to see what they could do that wouldn’t eat into the Air.

And I say this with my Education discount soon to expire. I had an iPad mini 2 I sold a while back, a 2015 iMac 27" and early 2016 MacBook.
In my opinion the MacBook needs to die out of the lineup. It's just one step away from being an iPad Pro with MacOS on it. Especially now that the new MacBook Air has been released there's not much of a place for the standard MacBook anymore.
I like the form factor and lighter weight, would like the Touch ID and thunderbolt 3 and extra port too though.

Do you think theyll kill the Macbook name in preference to the Air given its popularity? Again, it seems rather confusing along with the iPad naming scheme. Had hoped for Touch ID or even Face ID with the iMac too.

I am soooooo sick of Data Miners .....Google and Facebook...they disgust me and should everyone else for their deplorable behavior . Data mining 13 yr olds for crying out loud...!!!!
If I get free Apps and services I am fine with it.

My position is similar, though not as absolute. I'm okay with sharing some of my information in exchange for services, but I want to know WHAT I'm sharing, WHO has access to it, and HOW it's used. I want that information made easy to find and understand. I want controls that allow me to opt in and out of various forms of sharing easily without having to spend an hour digging through menus. I want to be confident that the bodies with which I share this information are not lying to me and/or sneaking around behind my back.

Under those conditions I'm willing to let them analyze my behaviour. Unfortunately Facebook and Google seem to think scumming is a better approach. I wish they didn't.
Completely agree. I wonder if Apple fancies working with or buying DuckDuckGo to boost private searching and/or build in some of the personalised search of google but without selling on the user data?
