What is your internet connection speed?

My cable connection was barely tolerable about 6 months ago when it first became available. However now they have it quite reliable and insanely fast to boot. Here are the results this morning from broadbandreports.com

2003-11-18 10:24:03 EST: 2541 / 365

Your download speed : 2541684 bps, or 2541 kbps.

A 310.2 KB/sec transfer rate.

Your upload speed : 365664 bps, or 365 kbps.

Seems like broadband .. above the 1mbit barrier!

Yummy...

What's yours?

i have a cable modem, which i think has a theoretical limit of 1MB/s. The most i've seen from it is 700KB/s, and that wasn't sustained for too long (wish i was downloading a larger file, just to have made better use of that temporary speed). Now, I average 300KB/s, jumping to 500, or dropping to 100, depending on the server; if it goes below a hundred for any noticeable time, i look for another source. Most of my downloads are from sf.net, which has very (VERY) good mirrors. I have no clue about uploads though, cuz I don't do that enough to remember the numbers.

At work, the connection pretty much sux. I can barely get over 20K a lot of the time, even transferring between there and home. But i think we have some kind of really sick connection. It's just being eaten up by everyone.

Here I have university bandwidth which can be good or great.

Upload the other day hit 400K/sec

At home I have a full 10mb/sec down (YES FULL) and about 1.5mb/sec up. I routinely hit 900k/sec at home.

Is there an app out there somewhere that can test this? There's an ISP in my office building and they've just got me hooked directly into one of their routers. I'm curious to know what kind of speed I'm getting.

My home connection is the same as Applenut's. My work connection is dog slow comparatively. How's that for backwards?

lets use the same nominclature--Kbs is not KB(bytes)s

at 300KBs you are rocking. that's about 2500kbs

    try

    testmy.net

    pcpitstop.com

    netrox.net

    speed411.com

we should choose one of these and all retry, it also varies by time of day. after 12pm faster than 7pm est

it also depends on the site and how close and cluttered it is. i have had sites and got 7800kbs down basically at 2800+kbs that's about 1MB/ 3 secs very reasonable. much better than DSL and it's fairly consistent here at adelphia.net

    i run 2800+kbs down and 240kbs up

    The stats are as follows:

    Home: About 1Mb/s - average high 800-low 900k/sec

    Work: About 1.5Mb/sec- average, same.

Where are these speed/price wars everyone was talking about between cable companies and telephone companies?
