I'm just extremely lucky ... they don't offer this service outside the complex I live in. I'd be lying if I said it wasn't one of the top reasons to move into this place.

The upload rate, while pretty decent, isn't anything to make a fuss over. That download rate, however... wow! I could practically stream HD video at that rate (at least until a next door neighbor tried to do suck down just as much data at the same time as me).

Just got Verizon FiOS (fiber-to-the-home) service installed today...

A nice improvement in my upload speed, but at least at the moment, my download speed is slower than the last test I posted for my cable modem service. Then again, earlier the same day as my previous above-quoted post, I'd only reached 7536 kb/s on the same cable service.

The advertised top speed of my (soon to be disconnected) cable modem service is 8000 kb/s. I've seen much slower at times, and occasionally amazingly higher. Although this particular old test shown above, done at 1:30 AM, makes my new FiOS service look a little tepid, that result of 17663 kb/s was far from typical. I'm hoping FiOS turns out to routinely deliever 10000+ speeds.

At any rate, I'm saving about $35-40 a month with cheaper internet service, and cheaper phone service too, now that my home phone is hooked up through the same fiber optic cable used for the internet connection.

Rock my DSL...Ok, just not really. I miss my cable, and satellite is too much. I live in the City, and can only get DSL...Sigh, looks like I will have to live my life in reality.
