??? sneak peek
here's a preview of what our vBulletin will look like.
forum and thread pages follow a similar theme... header is on all pages, obviously...
basically, the look is 'aqua meets grey'- icons and the sort are as os x as it gets, yet maintaining the current muted color scheme.
Criticism not welcomed.

It actually looks better than the current one.
Well....guess once this new layout is on air I have to modify the community site too
Try to take off those circles on the top right to see how it looks

I'll be sure to give you the code and images that we're using, as soon as we go live...
if oyu can't tell, the current top link bar thing now resides in the aqua bar under the AppleInsider on the left... with the current page selection on a slightly darkeened background...
And no, the speed holes are staying.

Hey Leonis, any chance of getting brad's picture changed to domo-kun on the community site?
just askin'...

Only when you send me YOUR pic
cant wait for it to go live...
Criticism not welcomed nor accepted.
The layout is 99% complete with a few very minor adjustments that may be made as we do some last-minute checks.
What about the awful transition period at MacNN where everything looked like ass for a couple weeks?
Simple answer: they didn't use anything close to standard vB templates- some wierd amalgamation that made it look like ubb... but a bad copy thereof...
AI vB has being tested thoroughly in multiple browsers through every step of its development. Once the database is set up, the GUI should have practically no problems at all (relative to NN, that is).

Wah, you're no fun...
Looks close enough to the current edition not to give me the heebie-jeebies as I dump a bunch of muscle memory.
Or course, the most important questions are around speed and quality of the threads, but a good deal of that can't really be tested until it's live...
Hooray for Futura.
My only suggestion is that the large AppleInsider text in the top left corner should be changed back to what it currently is.

Why? That's one of the things I don't like about the current AI.
