  • Twitter imposes limits on readable tweets to beat 'scraping'

Meh. Got permanently suspended from Twitter (was expecting it but it took longer than I thought).

Created a second account (a right-wing Trump fan) to go along with my main “left wing” account.

Started posting identical, but opposite posts on each account. For example, suggest using the 2nd Amendment to get rid of traitors like AOC or MTG. My “left” account received numerous temporary suspensions leading up to my permanent ban while my “right” account didn’t even get a single warning. I fully expected this based on the shithole Twitter has become, but didn’t expect it to be so obvious.

Eventually Twitter will be another Truth Social, a failing platform that only preaches to the choir of fuckwit GOP and Trump fanatics.

  • Coalition for App Fairness profile reveals organizational efforts against Apple

They are a joke. I stopped commenting on their Twitter posts (which are just the same drivel repeated over & over). I think there have only ever been 4-5 people whoever bothered to comment (including me). I’m sure they think I’m a stalker for being a regular commenter. Their like/repost counts are always in the single digits.

Short story? Their Twitter account is irrelevant. I can’t imagine their coalition having too much influence (outside of their own delusions).

  • Tests show iPhone XS LTE speeds best iPhone X, can't match Galaxy Note 9 or Pixel 2

(for once) Intel should be commended for stepping up their game, as that’s quite a jump in performance from last year to this year

also, it would be interesting to compare the power requirements of each company’s modem
I wish we could get a good read on that for the different bands and different distances from a tower. I'm not even sure that's feasible but I'd love for it to happen.

And this is the core issue right here. "Other tests".

Remember waaaaay back when I said my daughters classmates father was an engineer at Apple? A cellular radio engineer.

I know I posted this before as well, but it's worth bringing up again. Cellular Insights came out of nowhere around the time the infamous iPhone 7 LTE tests were done and showed the Intel version slower than the Qualcomm version. I asked him about this article and he made an interesting comment to me. To paraphrase again, he wondered how some no-name blogger was able to secure specialized cellular test equipment that's very expensive (well into 6 figures). He also commented on why they would use such equipment and then only conduct a single test out of the numerous tests it's capable of.

Cellular Insights sure appears to be a Qualcomm funded shill. They don't really seem to do anything, and their articles are either praising Qualcomm or bashing Apple/Intel.

  • Epic calls Apple's 'Fortnite' & developer tool block 'overbroad retaliation'

Why is nobody stating the obvious?

You DON’T NEED a developer account to code for iOS. You need an account if you want to put your Apps in The App Store.

Xcode isn’t going to suddenly stop working on all Epic computers and Epic isn’t going to be prevented from writing iOS software and deploying/testing it on all their own internal devices (like they now do).

They will lose access to some tools, but Epic is making it sound like development is going to grind to a halt and anyone who uses Unreal Engine in their Apps are going to find those Apps no longer working.

That’s not even close to being true. It’s scare mongering.

  • EU to say Apple Pay breaks antitrust laws

Another example that shows the EU is a joke.

Why no complaints about banks withholding their cards from iPhones? Why can they refuse to let customers add their bank card to the iPhone (and enjoy increased security/reduced fraud) yet complain that Apple won’t allow Apps access to NFC?

  • A8, A8X: How Apple's custom silicon hit Samsung with a one-two punch

A few other points from 2014.

    - In Feb 2014 Samsung announced that Galaxy S sales hit the 200 million milestone.
    - iPhone sales over the same time period as the Galaxy S was available were at 413 million (Apple sales continued to climb for years while Samsung saws dropped).
    - Even at their peak, Samsung didn’t sell half as many flagships as the iPhone.
    - Though Samsung sold 200 million Galaxy S phones, they sold a total of appx 650 million “smartphones”.
So even with the Galaxy S having their best sales ever, they still accounted for less than 1 in 3 smartphone sales (today it’s around 1 in 5 with most Samsung phones sold being low-end models).
    - Early 2014 was also when Samsung STOPPED reporting sales (they never reported actual sales - they only announced when certain “milestones” were reached, for example, hitting 10 million sales).
    - Samsung also stopped updating their webpage of “10 Million Seller Club” which listed all their phones that hit 10 million in sales.

  • Apple's iPhone 13 is significantly faster than Samsung's latest Galaxy S22

Want to know just how bad the new Exynos and Snapdragon are?

They're on the latest 4nm node. They’re using the latest & greatest ARM cores (X2, A710, A510). The stars have aligned letting them have all the best possible technology available together at the same time.

And they still get trounced by the A15. In fact, the A14 easily beats them both and the A13 offers about 95% of the performance.

Apple is literally 2 years ahead.

  • Epic says Apple no longer plans to disable 'Sign in with Apple'

People are missing a bigger issue.

When you lose a developer account you lose access to Sign In with Apple because they’re tied together.

So Epic didn’t have their developer account FULLY revoked as Sign In still works. I don’t know of any other company that had their account revoked, but still retained access to some features. It’s an all-or- nothing ban.

So Epic is getting “preferred” treatment here.

  • Apple provides detailed reasoning behind abandoning iPhone CSAM detection

Kind of ridiculous that Apple got flak for trying to implement CSAM using a better method to improve privacy while Google, Microsoft and others have had full-blown CSAM scanning for years and hardly anyone talks about it.

Google is even worse for using machine learning to try and identify images that aren't in the CSAM database, generating additional false positives.
