Apple "plans" to make only 2.5 million units in the quarter: This isn't surprising. If they release the new model part way through the quarter then they won't have an opportunity to sell 4 million + of them. The quarter will be split between new …

After netbooks were introduced there was a demand for more and more power. Eventually the top-end netbooks became almost indistinguishable from notebooks. I think the same will happen with tablets. When it does x86 will become more viable. Whethe…

"They'll find out sooner or later." -- S. Jobs. What if they are going in with Google on the dark fiber? Ok, I don't think so either but it would be another kick in the butt of a moribund, uncompetitive industry.

People seem to be assuming that the AMD chips would be going into the iMacs. Why? The AppleTV and Mini seem like much more likely spots to place AMD/ATI in the near future. The lower CPU performance wouldn't be an issue and the better graphics would…

Your problems are most unfortunate. I hope it isn't typical because I'm about to buy one. I'm reminded of the nightmare my iBook G3 was. London Drugs is generally ok but it might be time to move on. There is a genuine Apple store in Pacific Cent…

Personally, I was hoping that the moved away from the iThing structure. It's played out. If they wanted to keep the "I" around then a name like Apple info would have been better.

Has Apple ever documented it's formats for iWork? I really like Pages but being locked into on application makes me extremely wary. I would strongly prefer that other applications be able to read iWork formats without dependance on a Mac being prese…

A small external app combined with Ogg or MKA (aka MKV) could do the same thing and be completely open source. Apple etc. will never do this but it would be an interesting experiment. Is it just me or does it sound like the Labels want these to b…

Until graphics chips start supporting more than 1600x2560 it won't be possible to increase the res on the 30" screen. It's a problem that may hold up RI for a while. Sure wish ATI and nVidia would get on that...\

The best selling game platform on the planet is the Nintendo DS. Small, portable, built-in screen...sound like anything Apple makes? If Apple goes after gaming it will be on the iPhone/iPod Touch and any other Touch products they may introduce.

A (not necessarily) Finder related question: Have they created better hooks for plug-ins in the Finder (and iApps but I guess that will have to wait). The hacks of the past are all security-deficient. Apple is, I suspect, hostile to add-ons but t…

Since Adobe controls all their interface code they may create two looks so they can update when the time comes. Either that or it'll look like cakk for a few months until they get around to it... You are right though, it does weaken my argument.

A desktop keyboard with a trackpad in it. Higher res screens. I'd love a 2560x1600 screen with 144ppi. That works out to 21 inches. Even 10.4 would still be useable until res-independence was a reality.

Apple will have to show developers any new UI/appearance at least 5-6 weeks prior to release to the public. If they don't then developers won't have time to update the look and feel of their apps to match. Without 3rd party updates a new-UI leopard …

The combination of BruteFIR and Jack would do what you want. If the apps you have in mind can take audio units then there are several free ones that would do it.
