24" iMac, Intel Mini, homebuilt PC (Linux, Win 7). 2.5 TB hooked up to the mini, which acts as my server. Dual 22" screens on ergotron arms. Edifier speakers are the wall mounted ones, Studio monitors flanking the iMac are Behringers. No…

"irregardless" - Man, I hate that one..

I've done it a few times... As far as I know, it only works with FireWire. You just need a standard cable, the "master" machine can be up and already running, the target - you hook up the cable, then power it up while holding the correct key for t…

Connect their machine to yours via a firewire cable. Boot theirs into target disk mode (check the key you have to hold on boot, thinks it's "T"). Their drive will show as a mounted external drive on your machine. Insert DVD into the "good" …

Go to Advanced / Consolidate LIbrary Any it can't find (files) where it expects them to be (according to iTunes' database) should be flagged with a exclamation point in your library listing.

http://www.techspansion.com/visualhub/ I have used it to convert files to wmv, avi, DVD compatible formats. They worked fine on a Pocket PC and a PSP.

I loaded them into iTunes and used the "convert selected to AAC" function, then deleted the originals.

Use OSEx (find it on MacUpdate). Not the friendliest app out there, but it will allow you to rip the elemental streams. I set it to create a new file at chapter breaks, which did an excellent job of breaking up the tracks (vice one long file). …

Check Apple's "special deals" periodically. I got two refurb AE cards from them at a pretty nice discount. Not a problem with either one.

I put the same drive in my 12" - very nice. I put a 7200 RPM Travelstar in my 15". I'm not sure if I can tell a difference, performance-wise, between the two. Good choice. (just my 2 cents, if anyone is considering the same)

Did it for a friend's mini yesterday. It's a pretty complete breakdown, you have to pull the cage off the mainboard, and remove the cooling fan to swap the drive. It's more of a pain than I'd expected, but not as bad as upgrading a current powerbo…

That's a great suggestion. Just share the printer on the Windows box, disconnect the display, etc. and leave it running. I would go the extra step and set up either VNC or remote desktop on it and administer it that way if necessary. While yo…
