  • Apple's iPhone modem design is three years behind Qualcomm

Same mistakes as with the 4G modem.

  • Ex-Apple employee files RICO lawsuit over whistleblower retaliation

The nonsense american workers have to go through to get some basic worker protection is astounding.

The Intel NUC hasn't died.   Like the IBM PC, it has been coopted by legions of OEMs offering original NUC sized compute units for $200-500.
$270 got me a hex core AMD with 2.5gb ethernet, 16gbs, and a win 11 license to toss as I please.  Smaller than the Mac Mini of today, and in the same ballpark on power.  Takes an M2 and a 2.5" drive.

They won't have the GPU, but that's not what they're used for.
If they are in the ballpark on power usage of the Mac mini then their performance has to be awful in comparison if they are x86.
Well, it's not. The Intel vPro ones handily beat out the M1 for example, and the new ones are about the same as the M2, except hey use more power on max perf. These NUC's are great for installations, video displays, home control systems, etc. They run a ton of apps that have no equivalent on MacOSX, so depending on use-case these are still very good computers.

  • Apple's Windows Game Porting Toolkit gets faster with new update

The only way this will ever work is if the majority of mac users will buy the ports that are coming out now. So go buy Resident Evil and Death Stranding, whether you like them or not. It's a chicken and egg situation. We soon may have a great toolkit for developers, but it's worthless without a market. It's either that, or keep using Crossover and hope for the best.

  • Apple wants to make an Apple Watch screen that wraps all the way around the wrist

This is one of those "Gee.... it would be nice if we could do this...." moments, but reality has a way of scrapping such plans.
Unless you are Elon Musk. Until the very moment it happened, most said that landing and reusing a rocket booster was simply not possible. SpaceX has now done it over 200 consecutive times.
Elon Musk did nothing but throw money around and bully the people who actually figured this shit out.
How is that different from Steve Jobs?
