I wouldn't be surprised to find that they already had this planned & were just waiting to see what baseband fixes they need to perform in order to re-lock the millions of unlocked 3g, 3gs phones. I bet you lunch it also kills the tethering & MMS hacks that most of us are using on T-Mobile. If AT&T had offered the same great rates, $60 for unlimited minutes & internet, that T-Mobile offers they wouldn't have to waste their time attempting to permanently lock their phones. I find it funny that Apple keeps putting out so such effort in hopes of forcing people to pay AT&T's absorbent rates. I for one will never understand how people can justify paying the rates they do just to have one of these phones. I bought my 3G for $199, from a customer who couldn't afford the $100+ per month, & I cannot complain one bit that I only get edge, especially when you consider i pay 1/2 what AT&T charges & have no 2 yr. commitment..
Sometimes when placed in a dock, you get an ugly squawk out of the dock. I can't tell if this is specific to the 3GS or the 3.0 software (it happens with my old 3G, too, I think). Oddly, our digital answering machine, which doesn't talk to my iPhones at all, gives the most frequent squawks. I presume this means some kind of electronic interference. Switching to Airplane Mode does *not* help the problem.
Perhaps we're all carrying little broadcasting units for Steve's reality distortion field?
I first noticed a noise (like when a cell phone is close to a speaker phone) when I upgraded my original iPhone to 3.0 and I would have it sitting beside my MacBook Pro syncing. But with my 3GS, I haven't noticed it.

I have no idea. I'm not even sure what it is. I had my original iPhone sitting beside my MacBook Pro for two years and it never made this noise before. And since I haven't noticed it with my 3GS my assumption is that it was a combination of original iPhone + 3.0 software.
How about voice commands for "What time is it?", or "What is the temperature?".
I would also LOVE it, if they would add a command to play a specific song! I.e. Play ___________ by ______________. I know that it can read the tag lines because when you ask "What song is this?" it tells you the artist, and song.
I just cant believe they left out this control!
ORRRR if this IS possible... and you know how to do it... PLEASE share!!!

Will 3.1 fixed this?

That's nice! Or how about "Am I late for work" or "Can you cook me breakfast" and the 3GS replies:" Feck you! Do it yourself!"
That's nice! Or how about " make my bed for me " or give me a cup of coffee ?
I don?t think his requests are unreasonable, especially the one about time. I often have my phone in my pocket and use the headphone controls.
