[quote] Oh stop it...if Apple actually got off their ass and released an OS X commercials where people were flying around and so forth, you guys would be creaming your jeans and straining your noggins trying to come up with all the kudos and superlatives you could fling its way.
"Man, that Apple commercial kicks ASS! People all flying around and shit..." <hr></blockquote>
Actually if that was an Apple ad with flying OS X users I would have to say it would be just as shitty. advertizing has gotten so vague when it comes to TV it's pathetic. It seems all the TV ads are of the "repeat the brand name hundreds of times till it gets burned in" mindset and not a one of them recently has been much else.
Apple has at least TRIED to not do flashing apples recently but they have failed at that IMHO. Flying people to sell an OS... YEAH that works... you know what's selling XP?? New PC's. a lot of the people who use PC's in the home think an OS is a part of the computer and don't even know it can be upgraded... hell I know about 25 people who still use the ORIGINAL OS that came with thier computer. XP is selling just about as well as ME did... some revolution. IMHO TV Ads ALL suck...

Car ads don't seem to be that way. At the end of many of them I can't tell you what car they were trying to sell. All I remember is "zoom zoom zoom". I've seen that ad 1000 times and couldn't tell you the brand.

Those are Mazda's. Which is so ironic since ( with the exception of the miata ) they have no zoom zoom.

this miata isnt a sports car...
the best car theyve built is the RX-7, one sweet ride, and will soon get the RX-8 to bring back a real "zoom zoom."
that commercial saying that mazda is a family of sports cars is a joke--right now, in between decent rides, w/ only the miata, there arent any real sports cars in their lineup. the miata is a chick car--it looks cool, can manuever half decent, but is slow as a dog.

I never said it was a sports car. I just meant that is the only mazda that has any semblance of zoom zoom to it. That SUV on the zoom zoom commercial is a joke. Car and Driver reviewed it and said it grossly lacks zoom zoom. 200 hp for an SUV that size? I wouldn't even buy a car with that little power. I like the looks of the protege 5 but it needs a real engine to be anything more than good looking.
uhhh...i only have 2 words as a response to that...
Honda Insight (that is, if yer really serious about efficiency...70 mpg aint too shabby)</strong><hr></blockquote>
Honda Insight: MSRP of $19,080 for base model
Geo Metro: Blue Book of $9625 for TOP 2000 used model (EDIT: Chevy doesn't make the Metro anymore)
I'm all for fuel efficiency, but I'm not going to spend over twice the cost of a normal car for it. The truth be told, hybrid prices need to come down DRASTICALLY before they'll be serious contenders.
It's just like recycled paper. WHY ON EARTH does it cost more than regular paper and WHY would anyone want to buy it?
We'll start protecting our planet when we can make environmentally sound goods that cost less than the others. Until then, forget it. Yay consumerism.

cause its brand new technology being available to us, the consumers, for the first time. the technology will get better, and the price will come down. most honda cars are very fuel efficient--hell, my integra and S2000, which regularly rev to 8k and 9k respectively w/ the vtec, get milage up around 20 mpg. thats not bad fer sports cars, even on the high speed track...
and regarding the hybrid, it all depends on the investment yer willing to put in--if yer into helping the environment and keeping a car for many years while saving alot of money on gas in the process, then the hondas fer u. the quality of their products are just too good--the price tag is definitely worth it. oh, and its good that the metro isnt by chevy anymore, but who makes it now? id never buy an american car...yeah, the prices are better, but paying for maintanance while the car breaks down just isnt worth it...i dont have the patience anymore...
cars are supposed to just run, no questions asked...but whenever my family has ever had an american car, its a miracle to keep it around for longer than a handful of years...
i hear the quality's getting a lil better, but its still a long way from catching up to europe and japan...

I drive a Geo Metro and get kick ass gas mileage, and much lower repair costs than your BMW.
