Lucky you! Ever since the original iPhone I have yet to get 2 days use out of it. I wake at 6am each day with 100% battery and when I get home around 7pm I usually have 10% or less battery left. Granted my Bluetooth runs all day which I should turn off because it gets used once a month and I surf facebook and AI all day.
I did a small bit of tweaking to get that.
Turned down the brightness to a more reasonable level
Turned off push
Turned off location services (it will turn on if you happen to need it)
Turned off notifications
Turned off Push
Turned off Fetch for mail (I just check it manually when needed)
I've also heard that using the EQ with the iPod functions will add additional drain to battery life but I've never compared the two. I do use a bluetooth headset at the gym for about an hour. I turn off bluetooth as soon as I'm done with it.
None of these things impact usability much at all, but they can add an extra day or 2 to your battery life.
Been complaining about this problem since 3.0.1 to 3.1. Apple expert case 135986233. My 3G signal would blink in and out like x-mas lights. Normally have 3-5 bar 3G signal at my house but after upgrades, 3G blinks in and out and never goes to Edge. I think since it's always trying to search and lock onto a 3G signal, it's burning out the battery. Mine doesn't last 5 hours in stand by. They haven't been able to figure it out for the last 2 months. Before upgrade, everything ok. Could it have something to do with firmware rationing bandwith in weak coverage areas since rollout of 3Gs consumes much more. In areas with strong 3G signal, this does not seem to be a problem.
