Enterprise - The verdict?

DS9 was a frontier show that wasn't. The laws were basically already laid out.

What I loved about DS9 was the B5 syndrome. They had long stretches where the story would be a bunch of little events leading up to one giant story which was fluent (vs the other startreks which were purely episodal). It also had the best characters of any Startrek (cmon, you got Sisco, Odo, Garek, Gul Ducat, and Quark, 5 of the best characters ever to grace startrek) and enough "mystical" stuff to keep it form being too scientific. The bits about prophesy and the founders ruled (though it got pretty stupid in the end, think that that as shortly after the main writer left and went to do Andromeda). That was always my problem with the others (especially Voyager), though NG had that amazing bit wit hthe time traveler.

IMO DS9 and NG tie as the best ever.

I could NOT stand Voyager at all. Yes the later ones (after 7o9)were better, but it still didnt hold my intrest.

I agree that Enterprise has AMAZING potential, but with its cast of characters (best character is the medic, and hes just a rip off of Nelix, one of the only 2 good characters in Voyager) and its pathetic writing (Uhhh... you guys have spores on you... ya... now strip down under those lights over there...) I dont think that it will go anywhere (unless they kill off a few and replace them... hmmm... more vulcans?).

I started to get worried about the future of star trek ever since Gene Roddenberry came out with the series called "Earth"...

Actually "Gene" didnt come out with it, it was an idea he had. Also, you cant deny that the first season or two (until the main guy died) were REALLY good (if you got past the first 3 episodes). However it quickly turned into a show thats as bas as 3rd wave, and doesnt even have the Geigeresque bizzareness and B humor of Lexx.

    Try watching Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda.

You know, I couldnt get past how everything in that was reminicent of an early 80s kids scifi movie. However after reading a bit about the plot I realized something...

This same idea (crediting Rodenbury as well) was made into a REALLY good comic called something to the effect of Xander. It was about a guy whos partially cybernetic and holds the secret to a forgotten universe. However form what Ive seen (about 2 episodes and some plot info) the comic was WAY better.

I tried watching Andromeda and failed. The boy-engineer reminded me of the boy-genius on (hurl) the "Seaquest".

Now I know that the Andromeda's boy-engineer is a descendent of the 'Gettin' a Delll, dude'-boy.

    Andromeda's over for me.

    Enterprise could be great.

[I was going to correct the typo in the name 'Dell', but I don't like or respect them enough to bother.]

Tonight's Enterprise was really good but it reminded me of Janeway's weekly moral dilemas, and prime directive shit. Though it was better because Archer actually had to make a decision, all Janeway did was look at the Prime Directive for guidance. I'm really starting to like Phlox. He is a Nelix done right. Also kind of reminds me of Garak (sp?). I remember the second episode where Reed was all trigger happy and wanted to blow a hole in the side of a ship. They need to bring back that trigger-happiness and I'll be satisfied with the series.

Oh my GOD! You are right! He's Nelix meets Garak, I knew there was something else familiar about him!

This weeks was good. They could have left out the over foreshadowing to "some directive". But it was good over all. Interesting ideas in it.

I wonder, since they said the species would go extinct in 2 centuries or so, I wonder what happed to the Manx. Is there any mention of them in the other series?

Well, it was the TITS for me. I love that word...TITS. We need more TITS around here. Whose a nice pair of TITS here?

Sorry...ahem. Anywho, as a Star trek fan since I was a kid (not really a trekker though....just a big fan), I think Enterprise is great. It is better than DS9 and Voyager. It has as much potential as TNG.

I think the ship looks a bit too modern on the exterior.....and effects like warp are too smooth visually.....yes, too smooth for the supposed time period.

Sorry, but it doesn't "suck" at all. I don't understand that. The scripts have been very original. Although, in the episode two weeks ago I got that "Oh, God". another "hey how are ya" alien ship moment. And they didn't explain the race that attacked at all. That epsiode wasn't the best.

This past week's was on par with any good TNG episode. The foreshadowing of the Prime Directive was a little to obvious if you ask me....perhaps if they just said "until there is some rule"...that would have done the trick.

And BTW, Kirk is the best fighter, EVER......

Funny a Republican republican would be a fan of a show that obviously bases its ideals with communism.

Ah she is just the sheltered perfect girl with a dark sexual side just waiting to burst out. Just you wait...

Let's hope she has a thing for Vulcans.

Data had a cat. And Picard has fish in his office. An i remember an episode on TNG where there was a kids playroom with a litter of puppies.
