Actually, I prefer it that way ... gives me the chance to watch several blogs at one time plus Jason Chen's humor cracks me up ... every time!

When the hell are the new updated Macbook Pros coming out? It's been well over the standard 200 days updating period. I'm waiting, Apple.

    Intel hasn?t even released the Dual-Core 32nm Core-i3, i5 and i7s yet. I expect they?ll be using those processors.

Well, according to insiders those Intel chips are already "shipping" to some extent to laptop manufacturers, etc. Jan 7th CES is the official "unveiling". All this puts things into the Jan 26 Apple announcement to be the sexy MacBook Pros with Core i3/i5 and the Tablet. Jan 26: Steve comes on stage to huge applause. Gives his usual "State of the Union" address, then moves on to Phil introducing new MacBook Pros, some iPod/iTunes/whatever filler stuff, etc. Then, Steve comes back on stage, One More Thing... Boom! Tablet, crowd goes wild, 1/2 hour of pure RDF awesomeness. Blogosphere goes nuts with "Jesus Tablet saves" and "more Apple overpriced, overhyped stuff".

Steve Jobs thought the original Segway PT design sucked. But he did show up at that first meeting. . .makes ya think. . .

If the day comes when Steve rolls onto stage on a Segway, you know you better either sell all your Apple stock or buy loads more.

I saw that some vendors have announced the 32nm Pine Trail CPUs, and I figure they are taking orders but are they actually shipping before the 7th?

Are we to expect an ARM, Atom or ULV Core-i7 in tablet? I think we can rule out Atom and I’ leaning toward ARM but ULV Core-i7 may be needed if they want it to be capable of certain tasks.

AnandTech just released a review of the new Intel notebook chips…

    LOL! I'd probably sell it.

.....not that I have Apple stock anyways.

Gizmodo has a mockup and some decent ideas for an Apple Tablet. I like that they realized a single physical Home Button at the bottom is likely a problem for a slate while perfect for a pocketable device that can only display one app at a time.

I don’t think expecting touch-senstiive back panel is out of the question.
Wait, that’s not it, this is it.

There is just one thing, which everybody has lost from view in the hurricane of tablet hysteria. There's no any evidence of any slate coming apart from 10" screens having been ordered by Apple long ago.

Yep, we know people who works on something rocking new at Apple right now. They're close to iPhone software development, but, sure they're under NDA and haven't issued a single word about what happens.

So, the promised blockbuster and thrilling breakthrough may be just some iPhone software piece as well.

You are correct in that there is no direct evidence of a tablet. Even the 10? display orders were just a rumour as far as we know and I can?t imagine Apple would have ordered so many panels so long ago that I?d exclude it as proof. The closest we have to direct evidence seems to be from publishers claiming Apple has spoken with them.

We do have a lot of indirect evidence that leads me and others to think that it?s real. Without going through the list, let me just say that this tablet rumour is shaping up just like the iPhone rumour before it was announced.

No, no, there's nothing at all.

I like the mockup suggesting that you'll be able to move/"throw"/"stack" documents around like on a virtual desk. Surface-like. Expose for iSlate.

Like I have been saying, Apple not adding significant (fancy) features and charging $29 was a way of buying them time while they worked on bigger things, like Mac OS X touch. It was the old misdirection trick.

I'm just as convinced in the opposite direction as you are in this direction. The tablets OS will be a significantly enhanced version of Touch form the iPhone. In the end it will likely incorporate many features from Mac OS/X that aren't currently there. It will however be a distinct platform.

Interestingly I don't see this as a technical issue but one of marketing, support and leveraging app store. It is not a bad thing either as many here underestimate the capabilities of iPhone OS.

What I do expect to see is an OS supporting GCD and OpenCL. That in itself should make for one very interesting tablet.

GCD and OpenCL. A very good assumption. Wow, we're less than 3 days away! I hope macrumors have a spoiler-free link set up because I've decided I do not want to watch the live blogs on Wednesday. It's not as good as seeing it live. So the next best thing is not to see any news till Wednesday night when I see the recorded keynote.

Not that I prepared to rush out and buy anything. It is just that I find the technology possibilities very interesting. I'm just hoping Apple doesn't hide what is under the skirt.

Yeah almost a given. Depending upon the configuration this device could have exceptional performance.

If I'm free I'm likely to be be bouncing from site to site looking for the technical meat.

They say that about sex too. Unfortunately you then get labeled a perv.

That would be a painfully long wait. Besides at the rate things happen on the web, the tear down pics are likely to be ready. That would be the ultimate PC porn, pics of the motherboard and other internal goodies.
