Groverat: I don't know about the others, but Silvio Rodriguez is Cuban, not Chilean. And he's an amazing musician/poet/song writer.
Really looking forward to Rush's next album/cd due out in May(can't beat 3 virtuoso musicians with melodic complex arrangements, intelligent lyrics ).In the meantime, Zep, Pink Floyd, Radiohead, Dream Theatr, Oasis, reggae, Ozzy(preferably with Randy Rhoads), Foo Fighters, Tesla, to name a few.
As far as Aerosmith goes *puke*, any bigger sellouts than those guys?
For fans of Asian music, try Faye Wong. I also love the second song from Coco Lee's new album "So Crazy". Leon Lai and and Amei are also good bets. If you look, you'll find a lot of Jacky Chan songs too, as unknown to most Americans, he's a pop singer back in Asia.
Yeah, but it's not about the punk image, its purely for the music. Also the deffinition of punk varies based on who you talk to.

Well, I wouldnt go and say that... I think most people have an idea of what punk music is about, and that general idea is what they identify with most.... The music is cool too...
Bands that I listen to (Partial list, some bands only have a few songs, some have close to 100):
19th Hole
Anti-Flag
Alkaline Trio
The Ataris
Bad Religion
The Bouncing Souls
Buck-O-Nine (ska)
Catch 22 (ska)
The Clash
The Cure

Green Day (popish, the old stuff was better--still popish tho)
H20
The Hippos (light ska)
The Impossibles
Kind Grind
Less Than Jake (punk/ska hybrid)
Me First And The Gimme Gimmes
The Mighty Mighty Bosstones (ska)
The Misfits
MU330 (ska)

(Sum 41, Blink 182 and the like are cool too, but cater too much to the "mtv" croud to belong on this list, although some of their music is really good sometimes)
(Sublime, Long Beach Dub All-Stars, etc. kinda belong on this list, but their reggaeish style doesnt blend well all the time...)
I listen to lots of other stuff... but this is most (90%) of the punkish stuff.... some old stuff is missing...
If you like alternative rock and bands that experiment, check out Aussie band Silverchair's Diorama. It came out April 1 down under, and won't be in the states until like late July. It is simply a masterpeice though. Australian Rolling Stone gave it 4.5 stars, along with many other praise reviews. U2's Bono said people should "swim the seas to hear this record."
Me, being a die-hard Silverchair fan since their debut in 1995, ordered Diorama from Australia and I've neem playing it nonstop for over a month. It was produced by David Botrill who did the last few Tool albums. They worked with legendary orchestral arranger Van Dyke Parks who has worked with U2 and did a side project with Brian Wilson.
Some of the great songs off the record are Across The Night and Tuna in the Brine, but they're all great and very different. They're all over the internet, so check them out.
I've started to check out some new musica myself. Recent purchases have been
Res-RnB with different backing sounds. She has potential
Chris Botti- Stings Trumpeter. Nice album great song featuring Shawn Colvin(All Would Envy)
Adema- John Davis's little bro. Nice tracks.
System of a Down- The Public Enemy of Metal. I love Tankerians vocals.
Ludacris- Simply the most entertaining Rapper out there along with others like Eminemen etc
Sigur Ros- Listened to their Agaetis Byrjun album... album instore but you really have to let the tracks develop. Very impressive stuff. I'll be picking up their album soon.
India.Arie- Not a friggin bad song on the whole album. If Alecia Keys is the future of Soul then India is beyond description.
Norah Jones- Thanks Sponge! How can I forget the lovely daughter of Ravi Shankar. I new I'd be buying her album the first time I heard her. Her Music sales are kickin butt also.
Portishead- sheesh never checked'em out but count me in on this Trip Hop stuff. I love Beth Gibbons
Chemical Brothers- Nice stuff...gotta grab the essentials
Kosheen- Not bad stuff here.
N.E.R.D- Pharoah Williams and the crew behind the Neptunes. Nice change of pace.
Jill Scott- Former head of the Roots. Silky Soul for your psyche!
Haven't really gone out on a limb yet for others but I'd like to check out:
If you want a little de-stresser music, she's very cool...and not bad to look at either.
Rainer Maria is a great band that you'll never hear on the radio. Any of their MP3s that are floating around are great. If you do a search on them, download whatever song comes up and take a listen.
Fugazi recently released a new album and that rocks.
Weezer has a new album coming out...uhh...TOMORROW! heh
Anyone here who likes New Found Glory should also check out The Getup Kids, Promise Ring, The Juliana Theory, Hot Rod Circuit and Midtown. All very good bands.
Oh and Jimmy Eat World. That one song "Middle" or whatever is sooooo over played but they're previous album Clarity is one of my all time favorite albums ever.
As for your last statement: I dunno what pictures you're looking at but they're definately not the ones I've seen.
