When Microsoft first started making tablets, people were wearing LED watches. They were wrong then and they are wrong now.
But if Apple's device doesn't do enough and Microsoft's device doesn't do it properly then surely they are both wrong in their own way.
A touch interface can be used to do everything you need to do whether it's productive or not. What's needed is a UI and OS designed correctly.
Apple have failed to demonstrate this just as Microsoft have. They may be building up to something more in future but they could have made a huge impression with a slick UI controlling OS X x86.
and it's more or less what Apple have achieved here. It doesn't take the iphone OS to the next level because it doesn't look like they added anything significant. I guess their peek gesture could be used for folders on the iphone but there's nothing immediately innovative here beyond what we've seen.
