Remote areas won't receive iPad Saturday, but 'vast majority' will

Why would a company, with the brains to create the IPad, pick a delivery company that normally doesn't do Saturday deliveries? They're paying UPS for the Saturday deliveries but not for everybody? Seriously, FedEx delivers on saturdays; what's the problem?

    An unhappy Apple customer.

Just spoke to UPS that indicated that loads of them have already cleared customs. They are pending scan updates in the system.

"Remote area" my ***. I live JUST outside of LA, in an area I know from experience FedEx delivers on Saturday. But no Saturday delivery for me. If I had been notified before the order was locked in, I would have changed my order to in store pickup and made the short drive to the Apple store. But I wasn't told until yesterday.

Seems many people didn't read the article on the shipping, how the shipping from china hasn't changed, all in how apple holds the supply at the UPS stations so they aren't delivered early.

    Apple:

Ordered on: Mar 12, 2010 at 05:35 AM PDT

Shipped on: Mar 31, 2010 via UPS

    UPS:

    Status: Billing Information Received

    Shipped To: ANTIOCH, CA, US

    Shipped/Billed On:04/02/2010

The UPS tracking info appeared several hours after the Apple shipping notification:

The tracking info has never been updated!

    Yeah, what an inconvenience:

    1) put down the piña collada

    2) put on a shirt and sandals

    2) leave the beach

    for a piece of glass?

No need for expedited shipping to get delivery:

Thank you for your recent Apple iPad purchase.

Our records indicate that when you placed your iPad pre-order, you

chose to pay for expedited shipping.

Expedited shipping is not necessary to ensure delivery. Apple has

processed a refund for the shipping charge on your order. Please

contact your card-issuing bank for information on when the credit

will be posted to your account.

Your iPad will deliver on April 3rd in the areas where UPS offers

    Saturday delivery.

They don't allow glass on the beach in Hawaii, perhaps he can signal a cruise ship from his hotel room.

Apple is using FedEx for Chicago. I received shipment notifications from FedEx today (Friday).

I guess FedEx Home Delivery with Saturday service may not be available in all areas. Or perhaps it is more economical in some areas vs. UPS Saturday service and vice versa.

Either way, it will be a busy day for FedEx and UPS!
