It seems to me that with these heavily-modded cars, the only people you're impressing is other people who drive heavily-modded cars, and girls under 18. Of course, if you're a guy under 18, that could be a decent thing.
I know a few people into those kinds of "tricked out" cars, and every single other person I know thinks they're ridiculous. What's the point of buying a car for ten grand and putting another ten grand in fiberglass wings and neon and gauges and stickers all over the thing? You end up spending twenty grand for a car that's worth just barely the ten you started with. Just buy a twenty thousand dollar car and be done with it. You'll have something a hell of a lot nicer than you will with the the "ten plus ten" plan.
Seems to me most ricers should also have a wing at the front of the car, since these cars are typically FWD.

yeah, or they should all have large rotating halogen lights on the roof and hood. they'd be used to identify young, incapable drivers at huge distances. we could call them 'lame lights'.

All decent cars, but they all need mods to be really fast. I'd like to see someone drop the M3s straight six into the s2k though... would it even fit? I just don't like high strung engines.

As an 18 year old guy, I couldn't agree more. Besides, think about how many tickets you'd get in one of those things. Stealth is the name of the game for me:
Maybe I'll actually take a picture of mine one of these days, but it looks almost exactly like this.
Any car that I drive needs to be able to clear a medium sized pinecone and/or squirrel. Still, those are all pretty awesome. I've always been partial to the Jags, myself.

err, are you daft? an m roadster = m3 engine in roadster body. it's plenty fast (5.0 0-60) stock...
First of all I'm going to say that pre-94 jags are pieces of road-trash. These are full blown ricers. . . What a waste of money though.
I have always wondered about ricers. They spend a lot of money trying to make their slow Hondas go fast, when it would end up costing the same in the end to buy a car that is fast to begin with.
In the words of a guy I know who has owned 3 different Hondas (Civic Si, Prelude, Integra Type R). "I like Hondas, but I wanted to go fast, so that's why I got the Rx-7."
By the way, if you are a big Integra fan, go for the sleeper: totally normal body with turbo. Preferably with the vtec badge removed.
I own an Rx-7 myself. I know how much body kits cost. For the price of a high-end body kit you could drop in a Greddy turbo. Even better, get the 2.0 (or 2.2 or whatever's in the Prelude) and put the turbo on it. Even so you'd be hard pressed to break 13 unless you're forcing an unholy amount of boost. You'll also need to get a new clutch plate and a new engine computer. It all adds up. To make a Honda fast (somewhat safely), it takes as much as $10k of work, not including the body kit.
Of course, the real bottom line is that chicks seem to dig the Rx-7 more than the ricers.

Yes I know, but the M roadster is ugly as sin, while the s2k at least looks halfway decent. It's quick, but certainly not fast. It could use an extra 75 - 150 horsepower.

Oh, and it puts down about 320 HP at the wheels.

A Miata with a 13B-REW under the hood is not slow! (and cheaper, easier, and faster than putting in a BMW straight six)
