Thank You Kenstee! I bought a MacBook Pro on 5/21 from the edu store and was feeling kind of awful. Read Kenstee's post and thought, what the heck and called Apple.
They go through the ritual of checking with the supervisor and all, but in the end, yes, they gift you an iPod. She let slip that it was because it was within two weeks of the promotion.
They don't re bill and have you apply for the rebate, they just add to the order one at no charge.
Do you think this means that the update for the iMac will not be until after the 7th of September?
I hope not. But I don't think it is very related, as other macs have been updated during that period before, for instance MacBook Pro and Air last year.
This just stinks.....I purchased my Macbook Pro on April 29th with the education discount. I called the rebate center and they said it was too far before........I would have loved an ipod touch.
You could cheat a little, since Apple doesn't really check if you really are a student when you go into the 'Education Store' at Apple.com.
Here in the UK, the Apple Stores want to see a staff or student ID card and, the Apples Store Higher Ed (Universities) website is only accessible from Campus machines.
Why do Apple make this ultra messy by requiring you to send in a rebate form? Why don't they just take £130, or whatever, off the purchase cost? It just seems they're deliberately making it awkward to try and catch people out. I'd expect that from some bargain basement company, but not Apple. Come on, just charge people £130 less, don't make them jump through loads of hoops to get their money back.

Can't beat that.
We all know, close enough for sure, that Steve Jobs will unveil a new iPhone generation on WWDC '10 next month.
so? the iphone is never included.
And along with that, most probably is also a new iPod touch, which
won't release until after Sept 7th. cause half the point of the BtS is to get rid of the current ipod touch stock.
