I don't know. I've been sleeping for 3 1/2 years.

Good grief. I left out one of the most important parts!

I'll amend it later. David Blaine special on TLC.

corrections to seb's wonderful campfire story

This is when I came into the pictures, EriMac was admin at time, he asked me

    [quote]

Amorph was asked to be a mod. He accepted - good thing too - he's good at it.

yup, he was asked at same time as gEEk actually, and he is a good mod

[quote]Mark decided to retire. Robo and I decided to co-admin as neither wanted the full responsibility. We picked up a few more mods around that time gEEk and Eskimo (the token PC guy).

Actually Mark had retired earlier, he made EriMac the admin at the time. It was EriMac who decided to retire at that time, and you and robo became co-admins. The mods picked up were gEEk and Amorph, i was already the 'token' PC guy

I remember commenting at the time Eskimo was made a mod something along the lines of, "Good choice, he seems like a good guy."

    If only I had known....

AI came back with a new admin - Jonathan, where he came from I don't know). Jonathan, did you post before with a different name? Just curious.

The blackout was caused by the downfall of the company that was hosting the cube... they disappeared, flat out disappeared. NN didn't know what was going on, at all..

    Where DID I come from?

Frankly, i'm a bit mystified as well... I got an IM one day saying 'you used to post at AI, didn't you?' from Nick... which I had, back in '99, as Jonathan... (not much, had about 50 posts... was lurker supreme)

They brought me on as a moderator, initially. The mods upon the return of the forums were myself, Robo, Amorph, and EmAn... I believe EmAn was brought on in the same way that I was... he was remembered by the NN kids...

Then, a day or so later, there was clamor to bring Eskimo back...

So they brought Eskimo back, and bumped me up to Admin. I was initially supposed to be the least powerful of the admins... i was really just supposed to be an admin in name...

but... I did a bunch of work on the site (fixing that blurry mess of a color scheme that we originally came back with, etc) and basically, the other guys were busy with MacNN.. so I sorta came into power by the fact that nobody else cared all that much.

or not. but still... result's the same.

Fascinating history, Shaun. Certainly humbling for me, to say the least...

I do remember the big re-organization of the forums though... a bit of PeterB...

sigh... <pines for the good old days>

Now someone oust me from power, please!

I knew I'd mess something up, but to leave out EriMac and his fascination with pizza delivery...shame, shame...

Thanks for filling in some holes for me guys. I'll go back and edit my original post, for posterity's sake, tomorrow when I have more time. Must be up early and the time change always throws me off as it is (not to mention the unusual number of beers I had tonight).

    I miss PeterB's processor talk and PowerMac G4's all-around self-righteousness.

    Ahhh, the good old days...

I lurked for a long time during the black and green days 'looking for possible Newton info' If Apple kept with it, I would have bought one, but I wasn't too wise with my money back then, good thing Steve killed it.
