One mistake is forgivable. But when there's a long string of mistaken marketing information, that becomes relevant. And since Android handsets are competing with Apple's iPhone, what makes you think it's NOT relevant?
What long string of mistaken marketing information?
Motorola had a mistake in an ad.
HTC (?) released incorrect sales figures.
That is a string which couldn't be shorter. Is there anything to lengthen it?
I use nothing but Apple products, because I rely on their stability. And I get that AppleInsider makes more money when Apple has a positive public image.
However, this article is a lousy excuse for journalism. The motivation, and clear partisanship of the content is absurd. I respect AppleInsider much less because I read this article.
You respect AI as if it's some kind of impartial news site with actual journalists? It's called APPLEinsider. It's news, rumors, and information. What do you expect...the New York Times?

Android loses display battle in feature war with Apple
That is plain wrong. Android is just the OS, Android don't compete with the Hardware, it does compete with iOS. The one that loses here is the Droid X.
As I have said countless times: nobody can become a real competitor of the iPhone if they don't act as Apple has acted.
Just one device. No more different models or different manufacturers. JUST ONE!
Closed system. The one that makes the Software should make the Hardware. That eliminate a lot of inconveniences and promotes a solid OS, and improves the study of new technology to be implemented.
App QC. The times when any software can be installed without any verification and previous approbation are gone. For Apple to do that is priceless for the end users. Any iPhone user can install anything from the App Store without even hesitate that any of those apps can contain malicious code or bad behaviors.
High quality construction. A lot of these "killers" claim the same features and similar hardware, but when one comes to deeply investigate the device then you know the they use average quality RAM, the display doesn't have enough touch sensors or aren't premium technology, the display is of inferior quality, the camera pixels are small and gives bad photos despite its multi-megapixel sensor, and so on... In the iPhone all the components are premium A+.
Not enough internal memory. These killers can't compete in this area with the iphone not any one of them have 16GB or 32GB of internal storage, that makes them a lot more expensive that the iphone.
When Google and their Android stick with those 5 things then they can start to really compete with the iphone. By now they are just another average smartphone. The iPhone is beyond the smartphones, I think they created a new category, the thing is I don't know how to call it. But as I saw it is as an iPhone is a device with a phone instead as a phone with a lot features like the Android and others.
Only on AI can an advertising typo spawn a 2 page sycophantic rant to the Apple gods.
I love it!
now if apple made the same mistake, how many pages would that generate at engadget etc?
I'd be surprised if they picked up on it... until Jobs had the person who made the mistake flailed for their ineptitude. That would make at least a page or two.

Bingo! HTC, alone, makes a multitude of Droids. Why? Then, when the new OS comes out, it could take months, even years, before the hardware manufacturer allows your phone to upgrade because the hardware is so splintered. It's goofy... All the OS and software should come from one source: Google.
Be warned, though: Unless Apple allows the iPhone to be carried by multiple carriers, Droid is going to spread like wildfire - especially since Verizon doesn't have it. People want the iPhone, but many can't get it without changing carriers and that's simply not an option for many. They'll choose the next best thing, and once they get locked into that ecosystem, it'll be hard to change.

Much of the devices that Moto and HTC are putting out seem to use many of the same chips that would make it fairly easy to update their late generation products to the new firmware. It seems to me that excessive delay is just a way to cut down costs in the short run while making the new products look more enticing.
In comparison, the iPad also uses many of the same base components of the iPhone but has the issue of being a completely different type of device with a completely different UI design. While I would have liked it have come with v4.0 (and 512MB RAM), along with the other iDevices that isn't the same requirement and an actual feat to accomplish. Plus, they may be separating them to force the natural divide these OSes have despite both being based on iOS. They really should have changed the name back in January.
I disagree that Google should be responsible for any and all who want to build an Android device. Unless Google is willing to charge for Android ?*which completely changes their business model and makes it a WinMo-like OS ? there is no feasible reason Google should incur such an expense. Furthermore, Google doesn't care about the OS you are using so long as you using Android and generating ad revenue for them.

Droid won't, but Android will. Remember, Droid is licensed to Verizon from Lucasfilm. Both will grow and I have doubt that Android-based devices will outsell the iPhone by a large margin. It's the nature of their business models.
I felt compelled to respond since I do have STOCK in apple. Don't you people know that apple does not make a phone. all of the iphones up to the iphone4 is made by or i should say put together by FoxxConn the same company that build HP, Dell, Sony and other company products. Also, if you want to get more precise
SAMSUNG made the previous Iphones.
Previous IPhones: PROCESSOR made by SAMSUNG
Previous IPhones: MEMORY made by SAMSUNG
Previous IPhones: SCREEN made by SAMSUNG
I can go on. In reality those are SAMSUNG phones with APPLEs name and OS attached.
This article is rubbish. A retina screen "REALLY!". The video chat on the iphone can only be used with another Iphone4, also, the multitasking is old and lame compared to the PRE and Android. Also, there are multiple Iphone OSes also and some applications will not run on all versions of the IPHONE going back to the first iphone. The iphone itself does nothing only the apps.
SO, TELL ME WHAT DOES THE PHONE DO APART FROM THE APPS YOU HAVE TO DOWNLOAD? WHERE IS THE INTEGRATION?
Can you be any more spectacularly obtuse? Your Ford, GM, Toyota, Honda and other mfgrs components are made in other countries and by other companies - are you not aware of this? Are you also not aware that ALL of the components in your Dell, HP and Lenovo computers are made by other companies as well??
But thank-you. It is refreshing to have a troll just knock down the door, announce loudly "I'm a troll and I've come to stomp on your crockery and break your furniture", rather than knock politely and announce "I own Apple stock" or "I've owned a Mac foreva, BUT" and then proceed to knock down the door, stomp on the crockery and break the furniture. Much appreciated! Oh wait...
My points were all of the company's have parts built and used by their competition. Apple, HP, DELL, GATEWAY uses batteries built by SONY. They all use products built by ATI, NVIDIA, INTEL and AMD. Also, companies reign for awhile until someone else comes along and bring them down with a better product right now APPLE is reigning. There will be someone to bring them down also. Here are some examples: DELL brought down by HP, IBM brought down by Microsoft, APPLE brought down by Microsoft (Software and PC side), AT&T brought down by the GOVERNMENT, KMART brought down by by WALMART, PALM and RIM brought down by and being brought down by APPLE. If you like IPHONE; good, if you like ANDROID; good. The same for WEBOS and WINMOBILE/WINPhone 7. The only ones who really benefit are the aforementioned companies. So, none of these phones would be possible if it was not for the real phone innovator AT&T (Alexander Graham Bell and that is also debatable. History states that he made it to the patent office first.). I benefit from APPLE and MICROSOFT because I have money invested in both. Lets be honest PALM was the better innovator before Google and Apple they just became stagnant and lost out to Microsoft and they lost to RIM and now they are losing to Nokia and possibly Apple and Google. Another example the WII would would have thought that was going to have any chance against the XBOX and PLAYSTATION.
Also, by the way I have and EVO and the battery life does not suck I have been getting 12 to 17 hours of usage with normal use surfing 3G and 4G, texting, playing music and watching videos. The person that said his EVO gets 1 to 2 hours is a liar and and I would bet he doe not have and EVO. People both platform have good and bad things about them, buy what you like.
Really. One of the most impressive displays of wrongness I've seen since, well shucks I guess it would be the last long trolling post. ANYWAY, the examples you cite demonstrate a fundamentally flawed understanding of the markets, corporations and devices, or conversely a depth of ignorance compounded only by your enthusiasm to demonstrate it. Please stop hurting yourself. Unless of course you are channelling trollishness - in which case - please more clearly mark your posts with irony/sarcasm or jk.
Have you noticed that simple mistakes made by corps are always to their advantage. For example, BP: spilling 1K barrels per day. Now admitting at least 35K per day (last I checked) while some estimates are much, MUCH higher.
Now if they had quoted a lower resolution on this screen on the Droid, then you might have something.
It's not far off to think the developer who gets the requirements for the site has a complete disconnect when it comes to what's realistic on a phone. This java developer I work with (brilliant dude, 20 years in the business) he doesn't even HAVE a cell phone, and he was absolutely stunned when he saw me playing super mario on my tp2
So yeah, I think while reading the specs that got handed to the person, they saw 720 output or something along those lines and had a momentary brain fart.

It was obviously a mistake and whoever was proofing this developer's page is really the one to be blamed for letting it go out. The testers here at work look my software up and down, showing me things I never would have caught, but sometimes a release goes out with something even they missed, and this is government software used by a lot of people.
Wow. What a harsh opinion article. Clearly trying to brush away all the good things Android does do. Do you really think that the iPhone 4 would have as many new innovations as it does if Android wasn't pushing Apple to innovate to keep up or maintain their edge (depending on the feature we are discussing). Poorly written article and argument in my opinion.
All I can say is as long as the iphone is exclusive to AT&T, Android will always have a way to bring the iphone down. Sorry. Bash Android all you want, its still a viable platform and its good for the smart phone market. Competition is always a good thing.
Im not sure about this comment.
First off Nothing comparable was in the market when the first iPhone came out, so I don't think they need pressure to innovate.
Second, if lack of option is the only thing going for Droid on every other carrier but AT&T then I think we can consider droid a ticking time bomb.
Bingo! HTC, alone, makes a multitude of Droids. Why? Then, when the new OS comes out, it could take months, even years, before the hardware manufacturer allows your phone to upgrade because the hardware is so splintered. It's goofy...
Case in point: my daughter received her new Motorola Backflip today. It's not a bad phone, but she's already running into problems with some apps that don't work. Of course, that's to be expected since it's running Android 1.5. But don't worry, they're saying that SOME DAY they might get around to offering an update to 2.1.
Meanwhile, all the Android shills are running around bragging about how great 2.2 is - when so many brand new phones won't run it.

Why would you buy a low tier android phone if you expected to upgrade to the latest version? Doesn't make much sense to me. Would you buy a Mac with software 3 iterations behind the current one? You should research before you buy.

PLEASE. Apple fan boy, use a Droid phone or know something about the Android OS. The only bomb the OS has is one that blows away most phones. The iPhone4 doesn't kill a phone like the Incredible, and the Incredible doesn't kill the iPhone4. Some of the features kill others, but they're a completely different OS and I'm going to have to thank God for that. Two of my friends have apparently already had software problems with their brand new "revolutionary" iPhone4's and another friend had hers ruined when she put it on a layer of condensation because of that absurd design. Yeah, it's an amazing phone, but it's also extremely overrated and anyone who insults the Android OS without ever using it is an imbecile. Everyone preaches about how Windows has so many problems but I've never had any (although I skipped Vista), but I also don't buy $800 Dell desktops and I've seen $1,500 Macbooks die after a year and a half. I love reading Apple fan boy rants and comments. No, I'm not an Android user. I just won't buy from a company, like Apple, whose CEO tells consumers to use one of his products differently when it has a flaw, instead of attempting to correct it.

And the way apps pass off info to each other?

Yes it is.
