Let me get this right. You're saying that we need to have every single Android phone on 2.2 before we can determine it's performance? We know for a fact 2.2, in general, increases the performance of Android phones out now. Yes, there will be archaic Android phones that won't be able to run 2.2.
This is simple. When you have Android phones more easily measures in thousands than millions updated to Froyo v. 100M iPhones and iPod Touches you are going to get more reports of ssues from the iOS side of things, for many reasons, regardless of whether which one has a higher percentage of actual upgrade glitch unit issues.

This makes sense. I'm just saying that in general, 2.2 has given Android devices a performance boost. Will there be bugs? Of course. It's software.
Before 2.2, I was seriously considering shelling out for an X, but once I got 2.2 in my hands, I decided to keep my Droid and save the $600 towards whatever new phone comes out early next year.

Yeah, Froyo is an absolutely brilliant update over Ecliar. Google?s V8 JS engine bests the iPhone?s JS engine by a large margin. It?s such an improvement that I?m surprised that it only get an x.1 update. I think it should have been 3.0, with Gingerbread slated for Q4-2010 being 4.0 instead of 3.0.

Soli its good to hear a voice that's impartial. I got a Droid simply because I gave up hope for an iPhone on VZW. I'm a VZ landline employee in NYC, so you know why I'm loyal to VZW. Its a very good device that's only getting better. BTW according to your name are you here arguing with yourself? Lol
"In everyday use, the new compiler combined with Android's efficient memory management means that pretty much everything you do, in both the general OS as well as apps, feels more responsive."
her EXPERIENCE is invalid? You have no idea what the whole situation is do you? It may be another issue entirely masked by the update, but noooooooo, you have to jump in with the FUD charge and don't even bother to try and discover what the real issue is. Very nice. THIS IS NOT AN ANDROID FAN SITE! Get over yourself - if you aren't going to be helpful don't bother posting.
I'll give you the 1 in a million chance this update slowed down her phone. But even if that's true, this is not like the iPhone 3G with the 4.0 update. The iPhone 4.0 update is a case of the OS being too much for dated hardware. It affects all phones. What you're describing with Froyo is a glitch that only affects her phone. Two different animals.
Is she using the Facebook Widget? If so that make the Android Very Slow.
If 2.2 was perfect don't you think it would be in wide use?
Probably would be but they pulled the 2.2 release for the droid so people cant get that now.
Next your going to say only 1 in a million Droid X's have a bad Screen, When is reality its 1 in 1000 (If recall correctly)

The "Vcast Crap" isn't left off of all Android Phones.
What about Moto Blur that nobody wants but has that forced on them.
I totally agree. The iPhone is the ONLY attractive phone they have....
I think the "number of attractive handsets" point is very interesting and should have been analyzed farther...
In other words, are there other AT&T handsets with exclusivity agreements that are selling strongly? And are they legitimately "exclusive" models or just generic crap phones that have a special model number for the AT&T version?

Vcast is available as a download, but is not "forced" on any VZW Android phones. In the past, it was the *only* option... now it is another (largely ignored) option in the Market.
Moto Blur is a manufacturer's "feature" -- it is Motorola's attempt to create a unique UI. It has nothing to do with Verizon, and if someone doesn't like it they should buy a different phone without it.

I do prefer the iPhone from a build, UI and overall interconnectedness standpoint for a hassle-free consumer device, but I do try to see the value in all technology. Thanks for noticing, around here you are often pegged an iTard or iHater with very little grey area.
As for my alias, for all I know I am. You could all be very intelligent bots that I created or simply my imagination. Regrdless, I'm often in good company.

Blur won't be an "issue" much longer as Motorola said that they would eventually drop it if the GUI in 3.0 is really good.
Sure there are always odd problems with anything, but I have not heard of any reported problems. Do you have instances of this or are you just spreading FUD. If you do a google search there are many instances of this happening to android phones and none for iPhones.
I don't know what sort of google search you did, but if you search for "apple investigating iphone 3g slow" you will find several articles, including a link to Apple's own discussion forum where people are reporting iPhone 3G slowdowns after updating to iOS 4.

What planet have you been on?
I love the iPhone (have an iPhone 4), but it is a FACT that iOS4 slows down an iPhone 3G dramatically and very noticeably. You obviously haven't looked very far to see this issue for the iPhone because it absolutely does exist.
And Android 2.2 would be the same with a really old handset, however a brand spanking new latest and greatest HTC phone, I don't think it would slow down at all, no way.

Stop being obtuse, you know full well it?s a glitch, just like all the glitches that have affected performance of all devices since HW and SW first met.

My most used iPad apps: Skype, Dragon Dictation and now, Sky Walk (an amazing app and well worth the price)
I'm a big fan of the various astronomy apps, but I couldn't find Sky Walk, I could only find Star Walk.

Yeah, I am sure AT&T is just going to go bankrupt now right LOL...

Personally speaking, I like the way the Captivate looks as well. And it's got horsepower under the hood too.
