I wouldn't contest that much modern rap be it underground, alternative, indie, mainstream whatever...is NOT poetry....there is some, but its rare compared to the mass of just rhyming.

underground hiphop is NOT an oxymoron....many unknown rappers are out there, they have their own little groups of other rappers who they hang with, they may have freestyle battles or whatever...its their own thing, not mainstream at all....unheard of, but it does exist...it doesn't get much more underground than that.

furthermore little cuss, I have begun to think that you are being a little cuss for the sole purpose of fulfulling your moniker, and unless you can prove otherwise, I'm going to let you delve in your pile of ignorance and close-minded self-righteous quasi-intelligent existence.

    good day

    Here's a verse:

Well now you're forced to listen to the teacher and the lesson

Class is in session so you can stop guessin

If this is a tape or a written down memo

See I am a professional, this is not a demo

In fact call it a lecture, a visual picture

Sort of a poetic and rhythm-like mixture

Listen, I'm not dissin but there's somethin that you're missin

Maybe you should touch reality, stop wishin

For beats with plenty bass and lyrics said in haste

If this meaning doesn't manifest put it to rest

I am a poet, you try to show it, yet blow it

It takes concentration for fresh communication

Observation, that is to see without speaking

Take off your coat, take notes, I am teachin

a class, or rather school, cause you need schooling

I am not a king or queen, I'm not ruling

This is an introduction to poetry

A small dedication to those that might know of me

They might know of you and maybe your gang

But one thing's for sure, neither one of y'all can hang

Cause yo I'm like a arrow, and Scott is the crossbow

Say something now ... thought so

You seem to be the type that only understand

The annihilation and destruction of the next man

That's not poetry, that is insanity

It's simply fantasy far from reality

Poetry is the language of imagination

Poetry is a form of positive creation

Difficult, isn't it? The point? You're missin it

Your face is in front of my hand so I'm dissin it

You prejudiced pig. Bow your bible-toting white supremacist hood in shame. You have a shred of substance within that drivel- but it is implied within the text rather than explicitly stated. Say it without the prejudice.

    mc conrad.

    with ltj bukem.

not traditional 'rap' per se... more like mc over atmospheric drum and bass. it's all flow. no lyrics.

Conrad is the greatest lyricist. His words are absolutely musical.

download ltj bukem - progression session 6 live in america

    to see

If Eminem has talent I must have misconstrued it as marketed mass appeal (under heavy pretense).

And if Tiger knows poetry from a hole in the ground I'll be the next guy to fly the space shuttle.

Not saying some rap can't be poetic. Just reemphasizing that making words rhyme is not poetry. Poetry has existed since before christ was born. Drums were beaten even earlier. You mix the two and voila - rap. The idea is nothing new, all that's new is who's buying into the notion of owning poetry this go around.

Poor grammar and vocabulary is the lame - especially if someone is going to start spouting off about poetry without even knowing where it comes from.

Yo dem kids dey be dissin yo....

ALL Music is rooted in Poetry set to music. As with most things it is the "Quality" of the poetry that differentiates the Artist. Say what you want about Tupac Shakur but he said things and phrased his lyrics in ways that created an indelible stamp. You new his songs with just one line. Hip Hop is not dead but it must evolve.

Oh and another thing. I don't judge people by the color of their skin...just the toughness.

"To do black music so sell (something) and use it to get myself wealthy Hey! There's a concept that works 20 million other white rappers emerge"
