Hardly. IE became the default browser on Mac because SJ made a deal with MS. That was in 1998 and Netscape was very popular for Mac in that time. Besides he said it IS the best browser to loud boos from the audience. He did not say it is the best browser for Apple's business. Same thing for the iPhone. He tried to take it to the 'best' carrier who foolishly turned him down. AT&T was his second choice and again he said on stage that they were the best carrier. LIES ALL LIES!

It is quite clear how Apple would be able to track unique activations being the hardware manufacturer, software vendor, and activator.

I think it is really up to Google to prove their case here.

That's a great question? I've "activated" my Droid 6 times in the last month. As for the topic at hand I say who cares. I just don't get this whole iOS vs Android crap. There are enough consumers for both to not only survive but also thrive. I was considering getting a Roku but am now leaning heavily toward getting Apple TV. So this year both Google and Apple will have an "activation" from me. BTW these forums wouldn't be interesting without a few nay sayers thrown in, so lay off Blackintosh. If you don't like what he's writing don't read it. I for one am amused by his rants.

I'll have to have a rerun of the event unless someone here knows otherwise.

The fact of the matter is your all right. He didnt point any direct jabs at any particular company. Its the internet trolls that jumped onto the bandwagon thinking that he was talking about Android.

For all we know he was actually talking about Palm or Nokia.

Internet forums are a place where rumour, speculation and blatant untruths become fact overnight if enough people repost them.

    Its a shame really.

As far as the iPad is concerned, same thing. I would love to see the return figures from people who spent five hundred or more bucks for this stupid thing and sat down on the couch and tried to visit their favorite websites only to find holes where flash content would usually be. Oh, I have to get up and go to my iMac to visit this or that site. Or it doesn't display correctly using Safari.

Yeah, I know. The antenna issue was made up by bloggers and if websites use flash then they are stupid and shouldn't be visited. Apple rules the internet.

Whatever you say Steve, thy will be done.

    There ya go.

To those calling tech/ Apple/ Google evil...

At the end of the day ethically I can handle consumer and business technology. One day it may truly be evil, and can be used by evildoers. But in context of environmental pollution, wars, totalitarian or simply just corrupt regimes, FFS, there are more important causes than how many activations a company may or may not be lying about. It must be nice to live in a bubble where Google vs Apple is your biggest worry.

Apple made the deal with MS to help keep the Mac relevant on the internet. That was deep within the time that most websites were optimized for IE. You really think Apple should have hitched the future of their business to Netscape over IE? He got boos about an MS product at a Mac conference..........

AT&T was the best carrier for what Apple needed. And of course he has to ingratiate them. The iPhone would not likely be what it is today if AT&T had not taken the risk that they did.

I guess Verizon is the best carrier if you don't mind their tyrannical policies.
