Saw him play a few games for Liverpool last season and he has become much more of a "team footballer" than he used to be. I still think France will go through though and this defeat may just be the kick in the back side they needed. I hope they go through, not because I support them as such but because they can play very entertaining football at times.

Might I just point oot that it is the English team who will doubtless suffer the ignomony ye mention. The Scottish team are (for various trivial technical reasons) no' participating this time roond.

Rumor has it that due to current financial issues in Argentina, the UK government has demanded more than the usual monetary stakes bet on the match.

This time round, Tony Blair and Eduardo Duhalde (or whoever was president that particular day) have also thrown the Falklands/Maldivas into the pot.

In part, this was through necessity - if the UK wins, it will need the land space provided by the Falklands/Maldivas to store the pesos Argentina will be required to pay to match the 100 pounds sterling stake.

Now now, don't be so cruel. So they're having hard times, financially. All the more reason for them to beat "the English" (how's this Sir Mac?), so people can go out and dance in the streets and forget about their hunger for a few days.

although there are a growing number of exceptions, colleges traditionally dont offer post-graduate level degrees. universities are larger in terms of their degree offerings, and offer many more opportunities for masters degrees, doctorates, etc.

You have no idea how many hours my roommate and I wasted playing that game last year. Started w/Fifa 98, then he bought 2001 later in the year, but we always played the same teams: Netherlands vs. Manchester United. Good times.</strong><hr></blockquote>

Now that's good to read! The Netherlands is mentioned after all...

Cheering for the Danes, Belgians, Irish, Senegalese, Germans this time: can't make up my mind, any suggestions?

Yeah, sure that would really be helpful. 11 guys win a game and everything will be all right . . .

Yeah, after watching them in France 98, I took a liking to the Dutch. They're really fun to watch, and it's a shame they didn't make it. I'll be rooting for the Americans for the first round, and then I'll have to find some other team to root for (I don't have much faith...)
