[quote]And yes, "Cannonball" by The Breeders. ASS KICKING track! Would I be going to far if I said that song makes me...well, you know...randy. Frisky.<hr></blockquote>

No way, because <a href="http://ohiobio.org/kdeal.jpg"; target="_blank">Kim Deal</a> is hot and she rules.

    Never heard "Fields of Fire".

Thanks for the vote of confidence.

If you want to check it out, it's in my iDisk public folder, all there by itself...can't miss it!

Can you get to that from a PC? I don't know...I'm asking. When you snag it, let me know so I can remove it. It's taking up 4MB.

No, but I can give you a place to upload it if you like.

Go ahead and take it off, that 10MB is very precious, I understand.

You have "Fields of Fire", floating loose there. You can file it however you need to. Grabbed some Jay Farrar stuff and poked around a bit to see what was what.

You want to talk about a "so bad it's good" collection? I've got an EXQUISITE collection of early 80's/MTV one-hit brit/synth/new wave nonsense, plus some cool American early 80's stuff like Romeo Void, Josie Cotton, etc.

Then I got all that cheesy 70's goodness: "Afternoon Delight", "Chevy Van", "Summer Breeze", "Dream Weaver", etc.

    I LOVE that crap!

I actually liked her song "Give me one reason" better than Fast Car. Social Issued based songs have a hard time getting good radio play but it's a sacrifice that many artists make to sing "their" music.

I think VH-1 did a special on this a few months ago.

Don't forget Frankie Goes to Hollywood's "relax". Especially in the Ultra-rare Brian DePalma directed video.

Don't forget the one that launched MTV: "Video Killed the Radio Star," by the Buggles.

I'm shocked no one has mentioned this:

"Tainted Love" by whoever the hell did it. HUGE one hit wonder.

    Just thought of another one!

"I'll be there for you" by the Rembrandts.

In other words, the "Friends" song.

I personally wouldn't call it a good song but I would say that is definetly the biggest fairly recent one hit wonder.

    Soft Cell

Didn't the "Friends" song become a hit because of the tv show? I think that's a thread in the making.......

That VH 1 deal was pretty weird. It seemed like half the songs were disco, and they didn't list many tunes before that era.

Number One on their chart: The Macarena!

"Pictures of Matchstick men" -by the Status Quo

"Hold Your Head Up" --by Argent

"Too Little Too Late" --by The Dream Syndicate (from their first, only good (great) album)

Nick Cave has an underground following "Red Right Hand" is an anomoly.

He Had kind of a hit in the early eighties -though it too was very undrground-with his band the Birthday Party doing a song called "She's Hit"

    Don MaClean also did "Vincent"

They edited that at my job, nothing like eating lunch and hearing the same fifteen second snippet of a song over and over again.

I'll add three more Doctor and The Medics - Spirit in The Sky, Whale - Hobo Humpin Slobo Babe and Sigue Sigue Sputnik - Love Rocket F111.

BTW I actually saw Frankie Goes To Hollywood and it was a kick ass show.
