I get more dates with an iPhone. Women see me as sensitive and open.

Personally, I'm glad they like it.

HTC is about the only brand I think that really rocks, Droid from Verizon being one of the worst.

By the way, KIA sold about 10x the number of cars this year than porsche did, doesn't make a KIA better than a porsche.

There's always a ton of posts just like yours on these threads. iPhone repeatedly wins 1st in screen quality tests among mobile phones and as for HDMI, who the heck cares (as if any of us are plugging our iPhones into the TV to watch HD). As for DLNA, yeah I'm sure you're running into the possibility to use that a lot. Course if that's a feature you kinda like you can also do AirPlay with iPhone. Screen size is really a preference thing & has nothing to do with how good a phone is, personally I don't want a huge phone in my pocket, so sue me. Hardware specs also don't mean much and beefier parts often suck the battery right out of a phone. It's a shame that there are still people that don't understand it isn't about raw CPU power but about system optimization & software. If you think faster CPU & memory always equals better than you understand nothing about technology and should stop embarrassing yourself.

I must commend you though, at least you are honest about your bias...ifail.

First off, Porsches and Kia? Really? Atleast get a decent car comparison if you're going to compare cars. Kia and Porsche dont even compete in the same segment first off. If the iPhone is a Porsche, then Android is more akin to a Nissan seeing as how they have economy cars and performance cars that go through different price ranges and offers choice (kinda like Android huh?). Funny though how a GT-R spanks every Porsche up and down the track for less money, i'm sure that must hurt though. Porsche was even asspained enough to cry foul about Nissans speed claims, only to be shut up by numerous journalists.

Anyways, we support 7 different Android devices at work. They all worked smoothly without a hitch other than the one lone Xperia an employee uses. Sony Ericsson is genuinely terrible so I dont think this is at all surprising to be honest. All our "droids" and HTC and Samsung devices work in complete harmony.

Retina Display vs Super AMOLED is a complete wash, most tech blogs cant even pick a definitive winner. I have lots of hands on time with both as close friend has an iPhone 4 and i find the screen on my Galaxy S to be better cause its bigger and the colors and blacks are much better. If i were comparing my old Evo to an iPhone 4 screen fidelity wise, the iPhone 4 would win hands down.

You're right though, screen size is a preference. Some people like bigger screens, some like smaller ones. This is something most people dont care about though. This hasn't stopped Samsung, Motorola, or HTC from selling tons of devices. Your average guy will want a bigger screen, simply how it is.

DLNA? I use it very often since my PS3 is my entertainment hub, and the instant i step inside my home i can view anything on my phone the instant i turn my PS3 on. Airplay hasnt added anything new to my life yet. When an AppleTV can replace my PS3, 360, Wii, or Mac Mini i might actually care about Airplay.

HDMI? I personally dont care about it since my phone doesnt support it, but i'm sure others do seeing as how 56% of US homes have an HDTV in them according to Nielson. Phone and PC manufacturers (including Apple, seeing how my Mini has HDMI out) seem to be breaking their necks to support it. Its a convenient feature to have since its universal.

Lastly, most people dont care about battery life other than the fact that it gets them through an entire day. I think everyone who owns a smartphone has come to accept that you need to charge your phone daily, and that your usage determines your battery life. With that being said, there are companies that dont sacrifice specs, power, or longevity, the Motorola Droid X is a perfect example where it spanks the iPhone 4 handily in almost every test regarding battery life.

It is the perfect phone (aside from costs (purchase + monthly) for "seniors".

You might consider upgrading to a 3GS/IP4. Both have Accessibility features, including double tap with three fingers to zoom the screen, so seniors like us can read/reply to mail and texts without having to fish out our reading glasses.

Men may want Androids and women may want iPhones, but dammit, I want women

The data says that roughly 31% of women will go for an iPhone next time and 29% of men would as well.

To spin this as "women prefer iPhone" is to completely distort the data. The difference is smaller than the probable margin of error.

The only significant data here is:

    - men prefer Android

    - women are more undecided about their next smartphone than men are.

Everything else is a wash, statistically.

The fact that Android, which is almost exclusively marketed to men, is now preferred by men ( a bit) over other OS's is also completely unremarkable.

We aren't learning anything new by this study at all. It's just another proof that advertising works. Tell men over and over that Android is "manly" and eventually they will buy it more often. So what? People are surprised by this?

I see one more significant datra in this study:

    - the older the RIM

Of the 50 people I know that have iPhones 48 are men and 2 are women.

Almost everyone else who has an Android phone would rather have an iPhone but are locked into a different provider for one reason or another.

There are Lies, There are Damn Lies, and then there are Statistics.

A 2% difference does not appear to be statistically significant to me - unless you have a huge sample size. The title should be more along the lines of men and women choose the iPhone is equal numbers - and women are more likely to be unsure what phone they want. Of course - headlines that contain accurate, useful and complete information are not really headlines are they?

Maybe - Android gains popularity among Males while uncertainty prevails among Females.

If I was trying to make a 1:1 comparison then yes the porsche kia comparison doesn't fit. I was only making a point that you can't write off raw sales as a win. Me personally I'm more of a jeep kinda guy, I have no need for awesome speed but I do a lot of camping & pulling people out of ditches come winter.

As far as Android support goes, we'll just have to concede we have totally different experiences. More than likely it is environment, but since we run an Exchange e-mail system & a Cisco AP network I think we're pretty average in our environment for businesses. Our last big issue we faced was that one of the Android updates broke WPA encryption with cisco networks (as well as many home networks). Our poor Android users were forced to use our web authenticated guest network to get any internet inside our building (we don't have repeaters).

As far as HDMI goes, I don't think I'm going to cary around an HDMI mini to HDMI full cable considering cost, I would rather opt for the $15 composite connection so I can stream netflix to my friends TV. I will say this though, it's an outrage that Apple charges $30 for their own cable to make this possible, don't waste your money folks as you can find alternatives out there.

I'll concede that maybe more people use NDLA than I thought, you just gave me yet another reason to want a PS3 but I'd say it's probably still used very little by the average person. Yes AirPlay is new & not yet fully developed but with AppleTV running iOS it's a pretty safe bet that platform will be expanding, especially since Apple has submitted more than one patent regarding gaming systems over the years.

As far as battery goes, actually almost everyone I've ever met is probably concerned about battery more than anything else. Those who sacrifice battery for function often remorse about it all the time. Nokia even did a survey 2-3 months ago and battery was the number one concern among those who returned the survey. For me, well I've forgotten my power adapter on more than one occasion & knowing that my iPhone can often last for 2-3 days depending on use is a huuuuge plus for me, especially since I'm realistically on call 24/7. Add to that the fact I've gotten an increase in battery life in the last 2 major upgrades of my phone I am definitely happy with my iPhone. If you think battery isn't a big deal I challenge you to look into it, I think you'll find you are among the minority in this regard & not the majority.

But what's good about these customizations is that the app developers take advantage of it a lot. And the vast majority of them don't require you to root your phone. Just enable a feature in the particular app you got and it works. So in essence, the user is using all of these customizations.

One particularly useful feature is the ability to use widgets on the device's lock screen. I have a music player app that puts its controls there so I don't have to unlock the phone first before being able to change tracks. Comes in very handy when I'm using while working out.
