Vanilla Coke: 2nd assessment

I've noticed that Coke has started up an ad blitz for vanilla coke, but I still haven't seen it anywhere. (maybe I'm not looking hard enough).

Has anyone had a change of mind about it now that it's past it's "fad" stage? Personally, I don't know if it's going to go far beyond the fad stage. I predict a Crystal Pepsi - like death in a year or two.

I'm not sure about Vanilla Coke but has anyone noticed that people now use the word Coke to order any Cola flavoured beverage across the world? A sign of the power of the brand.

I like Vanilla Coke, but it's still in its fad stage here -- the convenience store just got it in a few days ago, since Coke wanted to piss me off and release it late.

"Incorrect." as one says on message boards. Haven't noticed that here.

I always associated the equating of "Coke" for "soda/pop" to a Texas thing for some reason. I was in a bar with a guy from Texas in college, and he asked for a Coke. The bartender said "what kind?" to which he replied, "Root beer."

I know one guy here who is addicted to the stuff. I expect a joint investigation by the FDA and the ATF but not until it's done its damage.

For the record, I think it tastes OK, but it's not like "real" cream soda, which I consider a delicacy.

I'm yet to try it and I went to the grocery store a few days ago and they had 2 liters, 20 oz bottles, and 12 pack cans of Vanilla Coke there. I was thinking of getting some, but then I saw Schweppes Ginger Ale bottles for 79 cents. I'll try it some other time.

You're right about the ads, Coca-Cola seems pretty aggresive with Vanilla Coke. Good ads though, now all they need is another one with Christina Aguilera.

Crystal Clear Pepsi was so good! I think I first experienced it when I was at summer tennis camp, that stuff was the ish! I normally don't like Pepsi or Pepsi products for that matter, but they had a good thing with crystal clear. ALso, didn't some rock group do a song for it? Then all of a sudden it vanished and I was left saying "What the hell happened to crystal clear Pepsi?".

I tried some of the vanilla coke and didn't care for it much at all. Regular Coca-Cola, on the other, hand, I love.

Sources say Pepsi will release a Blue-ish Pepsi product. It will look like carbonated Windex (SP), the glass cleaner. They have already tried a clear Pepsi that did not take off. The same sources also say a vanilla Pepsi is in the works, but I can only imagine how nasty that will taste. <img src="graemlins/oyvey.gif" border="0" alt="[No]" />

EDIT- Woops. I guess TigerWoods99 alredy explaned clear Pepsi.

    CONFIRMED!!!!!

    <a href="http://www.pepsico.com/press/20020507p.shtml"; target="_blank">Pepsi Blue</a>

I tried Vanilla Coke, and it just seemed too sweet to me ... too much of a vanilla aftertaste. I love Cherry Coke though.

I worked in junkie/hooker district of Copenhagen a couple of years ago and of course often heard coke use as slang for cocain (as in one gram of coke). But the funny thing was that Coca-Cola was called cocain (as in "half liter of cocain")

Don't leave me out of a VC thread! I've been a VC drinker for yeeeeeeears.

Yes, I say 'coke' in the generic sense for cola.

They are coming out with VC in many of the different containers here in Indiana

Why don't we get Vanilla Coke in the UK? It's become difficult to find places that stock even Cherry Coke!

Anyway, <a href="http://www.irn-bru.co.uk"; target="_blank">Irn-Bru</a> rules! Have any of you guys tried it?

    J

    Edit: Irn-Bru not Irn-Bur <img src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" />

Pepsi Twist: Yuck...the lemon tastes quite artificial

Vanilla Coke: I don't like vanilla cream soda, so I don't like Vanilla Coke at all. You can hardly even taste the cola portion.

Mountain Dew Code Red: It's only good cold.

    Is Pepsi Blue out yet?

As for the original spin-offs, the Cherry Coke and Wild Cherry Pepsi are fine.

When I order a cola, I order a Pepsi...I wait till the waiter says they don't have an Pepsi before I order a Coke instead.

I've bought it a few times and I like it. About as much as I like Cherry Coke so I think it'll be around for a while.

I've tried it and like it fine, better than regular coca-cola anyway. I don't soda much (can you say extra calories?) anyway, but if I were faced w/ the choice b/w VC can real, honest-to-goodness cream soda, I'd choose the latter. A good bottle of cream soda is simply sublime.

    Thoth

PS: When I'm on an airplane, I only drink ginger ale b/c I've never crashed in one when I've had a ginger ale. Make sense? I HATE to fly

bloody hell jamie scotland is deprived, come across the border and get a few crates of it -

anyway, am i the ONLY person to think that Vanilla Coke somewhat defeats the object....

seeming as the coca-cola brand also make sprite, lilt, etc why is the stuff not brought out under its own name?

if i want coke or coca-cola thats what i want not some vanilla cr4p...which brings me onto something else...Diet Coke & Lemon...??!

what is the point by some fresh lemons it tastes better you lazy slobs!

I didn't think fresh lemons came fizzy. I guess I'm too much of a lazy slob to carbonate them myself.

Vargas, the lemon flavor in Pepsi Twist isn't fizzy either. Buy a lemon, and squeeze it into your glass of Pepsi and taste the difference. At least with cherry cola, the ultra-maraschino taste is the widely accepted cherry flavor.
