I'll second that. Brooks is my second most favorite author, right behind Tolkein.

Shannara is a good choice for movie adaptations. The Riftwar trilogy by Raymond E Feist would also be good. An adaptation of A Song Of Ice And Fire by George R R Martin could be awesome but is deemed impossible to make.
Also, there is a movie out starring Steve Irwin, how about one with Alvin Hall? Just a suggestion.
I wish that someone would take Arthur C. Clarks Space Oddyssey series of books and make a good series of movies. 2001 ASO was good, but the 2010 The Year We Make Contact was completely different from kubricks original. They need one director to do it all, similarly to how they did LotR.
any of the idea's that fliter into my mind at any one time, or more seriously.....
i think this is in the pipeline anyway.....
drumroll....
Metal Gear Solid!!!!
oh hell yeah, following along the lines of what is goin on after MGSII but completly independant - i.e. it will never be made into a game or games will follow on after it
The Return of the Asteroids was a good one. haha. Thats hilarious. I bet you that the idiots in Hollywood are thinking "Hmm, now there's a fresh idea!"
Michael Crichton's novel Timeline...awesome book if you haven't read it then read it.
Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series...I own them all and have read them about five times now (Thats a lot considering the first two books (out of seven) are larger than The Hobbit + LotR.)
Lastly, here needs to be another Beavis and Butthead movie, another South Park movie, and a Simpsons movie.
Actually i think i prefer to see it alive and not as a movie but also as a movie would be

I'd like to see a movie where a good looking, popular guy makes a bet with his friends that he can turn a geeky girl into the prom queen. But then he does, and they don't fall in love, she doesn't find out it was a bet, she falls back into obscurity after the prom, and the good looking, witty, yet evil best friend of the good looking, popular guy just gives him his damn money.
How about Appleinsider The Movie! In it an AI poster suspects a government conspiracy and the only people who believe him are his fellow AI posters. But there's a twist! One of the moderators is an undercover government agent, but which one? Cue plenty of suspense, particularly when posters start "disappearing". I would, of course, play myself only in the movie I would be a mormon and Natalie Portman, Cameron Diaz and Angelina Jolie would play my wives. Could make a rather exciting movie I think. Oh, and Spiderman could make a cameo, angry that a poster implied that he's gay.
a cool guy with a mac (ie the protagonist) finds out windows is BAD and causes brain damage, bad behaviour, impotence, violence etc etc etc (all the problems of the world) .. so he starts to find a way to save the world...
maybe we could add even the asteroid to sell more.. so the asteroid is coming too close to the earth .. and the govs etc are trying to save the world with windows...
the macguy starts to do something.. and the windows bla bla try to make him out... maybe something like a 007 parody
of course he needs some girls .. but not sure if unix or linux.. well, a unix agent, a mandrake and a redhat girls ... semi agents.. and he does the bond...
the end: in the last minute when the asteroid is attacking the earth the mac guy manages to a) find a simple command that crashes EVERY windows and saves the world (the commands should be visible on the film.. something better than format..) or b) finds a way to send all the windows running comps to the space and all those windows mandage to throw the asteroid out of its orbit...

LotR made it to the big screen. How about a trilogy involving the Shannara novels by Terry Brooks?.

I'll second that. Brooks is my second most favorite author, right behind Tolkein.

Seriously, I'll second H2G2 and Snowcrash (Cryptonomicon would be good too IMHO).
If you mean not porn in which I have a starring role with any number of hot, young starlets...
WWII has been done to death, so how about a Spielberg (or any of the other better big directors) Civil War movie? Maybe about Antietam...

A movie based on the Marathon series of games. Tyco is a bad ass.

Just when i thought of a movie based on marathon i saw this post.
I was going to say that
A movie based on The Chronicles of Amber would kick ass too!
But maybe I'm watching too many teen movies.

98 % of the world is occupied by windows users...
