After rethinking my original post and seeing what offerings Hollywood has this summer, I'd like to see a movie made from an original screenplay which isn't based on a novel, comic book, video game, historic disaster, or television series, with intereting characters, a great cast, witty dialog, and an superb plot that takes full advantage of the media without being mired in over-the-top special effects.
<strong>the one that started cyberpunk, "Neuromancer"

As long as William Gibson doesn't do the screenplay. Johnny Mneumonic was horrible, and I read a screenplay that Gibson did for Burning Chrome which was even worse. He definatly needs to stick to books.

You're right about that. Mneumonic was a huge disappointment. I am amazed that there really hasn't been many cyberpunk movies made. They seem to be custom built for the screen.

I'd say Matrix was a cyberpunk-style movie. Simulated worlds, blurring between the real and the artificial, melding of humans and machines, technology, technology, technology...no corporate control of civilzation, but you do have a future where human are essentially ruled by computers.
Neo is everybit the reluctant Anti-hero that Case was. Well, at least until the end of the movie, that is.
Comments
Max Payne -- On the way.
Dues Ex -- Also on the way.
Yeah so what if they are based on games. It would still be rad.
<strong>
A remake of the Dino D. adaptation of DUNE done right. This time it will be canonical.
A space epic not focused on the technology aspect but a deep plot. And no aliens. Humans are much more fascinating and dangerous.

I would love to see a maxi-series of Dune movies done up right. just dont let Star-wars-boy do it or it will take 36 years to get all six out
- the one that started cyberpunk, "Neuromancer"
- The Simpsons
- No more movies based on games. There has never been a good one, and there never will be. (boy if that's not flame bait, I don't know what is)

That's my guess, anyway.

<strong>Because only geeks like that crap. Studios aren't going to waste money on such a niche genre.

Well, if you are regular contributor to these forums, then chances are you're a geek too.
