Also if these aliens don't like water, why would they come to a planet thats 70% water? IMO, the whole alien part of the plot could have been thought about much more.

Agreed, but perhaps its only fresh water that affects them? Also, what are they doing with Humans that are also comprised of 70% water? Surely not eating them!
The whole water concept was a ripoff of War of the Worlds. Remember the aliens died from something as simple as the common cold. Shyamalan just steals other people's ideas
M. Night Shyamalan is the most overrated director ever. Lousy. Sorry, just a lousy director and writer. "Sixth Sense"? I knew the ending fifteen minutes into it.
I see lame screenwriting....
"Unbreakable", same thing...only I knew it all in 5 minutes. I'll wait 'til this crap is on HBO...
Dunno why you guys hated it. I found it being the best movie I've seen this summer. Although I only have seen 2 movies this summer. That and Goldmember.
Anyways, I enjoyed the movie. What tripped me out the most was the brazilian home movie footage.

Mark me down as a less confrontational ShawnPatrickJoyce.
Just got back from the flick and it was very good.
I thought the cinematography was good and I don't know why people are bitching about Shyalaman's small role, he did just fine and if you didn't know he was the director you wouldn't think twice about it.
All the actors did a great job, and I love the characters. The Army recruiter was hilarious.

Relax. Just a movie. And I was ASKING to be "spoiled", so don't worry. I can still enjoy a movie on tons of other levels, even if I know the "hook".

The hook is....the Aliens are really dead people, and Mel Gibson sees them everywhere. Then he gets hit by a train and becomes a super hero and wipes out the aliens with his atomic breath. But then Bruce Willis wakes up at the end and realizes it was all just a horrible nightmare and he's really not Mel Gibson.

lol.
i thot the movie was terrible. i really liked 6th sense, and i thot unbreakable was decent, but this reeked. i wasn't scared for a second. i wanted there to be some kind of sixth-sense like twist to it. the water was just dumb, and a little too convenient. 6th sense really surprised me at the end (tho i had suspisions in the beginning, they were quickly forgotten), and i kept trying to think how these signs were going to twist into some kind of hoax. real aliens who can't even massacre a small town and are hurt by fvcking water. whats scary about that? i'm really glad i didn't pay for this one, and that some1 at work ripped it off the net. p.u.
Something about this movie just didn't sit right with me; i really enjoyed the first hour and some; the tension was excellent, and i definitely liked the theme of 'war of the worlds' on a personal scale. but after that, i felt that it started beating the viewer over the head with the overarching theme of coincidence versus someone/thing looking out for you, and i think it suffered for that; it became comical, and unbelievable. (spoiler)And worst, the extended flashback right after the alien picks up the boy just completely annihilates the tension that scene should have had. i enjoyed the movie, but i definitely disagree with some of the choices it made.

Even though I didn't like this movie that much, this was a great scene. Sorry, pscates, can't ruin it for you. You guys better not give it away..heheh
I'll eventually see this movie, but it won't ruin it for me if I know this! Come on. Please?
It'll probably be another week or so before I get around to seeing this, so don't string me out that long.
E-mail me directly at [email protected] if you want. I won't tell who told me.

I didn't think it was very scary, but since when is that any benchmark for a good movie?
Hmmm.
This seems to be one of those "no middle ground" movies. You either love it or hate it, judging by the reviews, posts here, talking with others, etc.
