Very good question. I thought, "am I out of my mind buying a front drive car w/ nearly 300hp?" Well, I flogged the thing well and truly hard when I test drove it and it had only slight wheel hop under full acceleration. Volvo did a good job with the turbos keeping the power and torque delivery progressive. AND it has only the slightest hint of torque-steer and even then only on full acceleration at slow speeds.
Its quite fun - I still can't believe I own a Volvo, though. Maybe I'll have to be a family man soon. <img src="graemlins/bugeye.gif" border="0" alt="[Skeptical]" /> <img src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" />

Thoth, did you try Tischer, err, BMW of Silver Spring? The former owner is a good friend of my family, and they (at least in the past) never marked up the M cars...

So, when you say this, do you mean I should buy a GM or Ford (GEO, for instance) made in Korea, or a BMW made in South Carolina?

The RX-7 Rules and dominates all! The future was 10 years ago. Have a look at the TKT Banzai.
"The Banzai Edition RX-7 utilizes a 20B three rotor twin turbocharged engine which produces 550 Hp, propelling the Banzai to light speed in a flash. The Banzai is fitted with a huge custom built front mount intercooler, hi flow radiator, and retro fit air conditioning condenser to handle the extra cooling needs. A special computer-designed subframe fits the 20B power plant perfectly into the RX-7 engine bay and allows easy access to all components for service. A custom Digital Management System provides unsurpassed drive ability and unbelievable performance without all of the spaghetti wiring of the factory system. A TKT Stainless Steel Exhaust System gives it the perfect note. Special Trak-Pro suspension and brake systems handle the extra performance with ease. Power is transferred to the ground via Bridgestone Potenza S-02 225/40ZR18 front and 285/35ZR18 rear tires mounted on beautiful 18" x 8.5" front and 18" x 10" rear Forgeline LS web design wheels."
yes, rotary was ingenious, but i dont see it as going very far anytime soon as long as ford is in control of mazda. we're lucky to get the RX-8 and the next RX-7 in the next couple years, but thats prolly about it. ford is a POS company which loves the status quo and anything innovative is ignored. which is why i see mazda as being stagnant for awhile...

Whatever you do, don't talk to Mike Mills.
I bought a Z8 from him that had dinks in the door panels, cracked head light lenses and a twisted rear bumper. When I examined it before delivery, it seemed to be okay. I guess the damage must have occurred during the prepping.
That is the car of all times--10,000-14,000 base prices for the three different models. two years i turn 16 maybe i will get one the are the cutest, and though small, a nice spacey back seat.
That Infiniti is pretty nice indeed. Would you take that over an Audi A4?
American cars are crap. Imports all the way.
I'm looking at getting a Honda Civic Si, lower it, custom 18 inch racing rims, do the interio, etc. Mod it to death and you have yourself a very sweet ride.
S2000s are awesome too, but you wouldn't be able to keep it on the road in winter.
G4Dude, it looks better than a new Z, I guess, but barely...I am not a fan.
Artman's choice on the other hand is great. My dad had a Morris Mini Minor, which was basically the same as an Austin Mini Cooper with a smaller engine.
tmp, the Cadillac CTS? <img src="graemlins/oyvey.gif" border="0" alt="[No]" /> <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laughing]" /> <img src="graemlins/bugeye.gif" border="0" alt="[Skeptical]" /> Okay, to each his own, but...The only GMs I will ever consider are pick-ups and SUVs...or cars from foreign companies they swallow up.

I saw a brand new yellow Murcielago on Union Street in San Francisco two weeks ago parked right in front of a restaurant...an ugly, but amazing car.
I don't think American cars are crap, they're getting pretty good now, in the same dull appliance-like way that Japanese cars are 'good' -- efficient, cheap, reliable. Again with exceptions for both the yanks and the japs.
It's too bad that the North American auto landscape has become so dull when it had started off with such promise. Whether it's Japanese or American, most of the vehicles sold today look dated within months of their appearance, truly forgettable in the sense that no matter how 'cool' you think they look at the moment, they'll just look 'old' the second a new model comes along.
And while many classics certainly look 'old' they remain interesting. No one will think that that Infinity is interesting in 15 years time because, basically, it isn't.
The RX7 certainly is/was, as is the Lexus belluga-whale coupe (SC430 or whatever it's called). The Mini is also cute. The S2000 is interesting, the Passat wagon and sedan are very nice. The Aurora Sedan was intersting but a little less so after they restyled it. The old Jaguar XJS (and the current XJ8 sedan) the new coupe looks like a slightly squat/bland version of a current Aston Martin (and not nearly as beautiful). American muscle cars since the mid 70's have been hideous including all the current mustang/camaro/firebird and their ilk. The Corvette was downhill since the original stingray (it was just getting more awkward with each revision, untill getting really bland with original C4) It's a little better now, but still kinda plasticy and big, like an RX7's nice, but not really sexy, older sister. Cadillac just gave up in the 80's. Most pontiacs are too ugly to look at. Buick's latest Park Avenue is a surprisingly good looking geezers car. There are a few examples of nice Auto shapes around, but there were about 25 abysmal years in auto design and we're only seeing a little bit of life in NA design now.
Oh man is car design ever in need of some flair and intelligence.

Talk to Mike Mills, if you get a chance. He's a good guy, CCA member, really knows his stuff.
Plus, he let me drive a Z8 that came in and was being prepped for delivery
