I've been trying to order a phone thru Verizons existing customer page for the last 7 hours. Still getting the same error message that a previous poster described.
We're working on getting this fixed as soon as we can.

Safari can?t open the page ?http://preorder.verizonwireless.com:443/iconic? because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection. This sometimes occurs when the server is busy. Wait for a few minutes, and then try again.
Same as AT&T (or worse).
Sorry dude but your wrong. I worked the iPhone 4 pre-order and launch at Apple, And this doesn't even come close to that. A little riff here and there doesn't even hold a match to the widespread outage we experienced on the initial pre-order day. Genrally everything has gone good with Verizon pre-order.
Verizon is now compressing our own data...this sucks. When I send a picture to a friend, they will reduce/compress the file....resulting in a substandard image.....LEAVE MY DATA ALONE!

little riff here and there?
As far as I understand web ordering is flat down. Did you get yours?
I have nothing against Verizon or AT&T.
It's just that Verizon said they not going to have any problems AT&T had. It was a bold statement.
Just got iPhone preordered using Apple web site. Smooth transaction.
Tried all morning through Verizon -- no luck. It may be account related. Always returns error. Friend of mine tried it using his account with no error. Go figure.
Its not additional capability. They would literally have to have both GSM and CDMA radios in the same phone.

You will never connect on port 443 using http protocol. That link will always produce error.
The link above doesn't work, but if I just go to verizonwireless.com to go through the web page it works for me with no problem and no lag. Not sure where that link above is coming from.

Actual usage test... VZW > ATT for almost all the tests.
These results don't mean much when you aren't having to share the network with others. Let's go to a known Verizon trouble spot and see how it holds up. Rather than going to a known AT&T trouble spot and seeing how Verizon holds up. Plus, in one video they said the amount of people in the geographic area using he same device matters as to how responsive your service is. They are the only Verizon Iphone in the area right now. Wise up people. Verizon paid them for that commercial.

Can you explain to me what is the difference between an iPhone and Android to a network if they both pull data?
I ordered my iPhone this morning at 3am for Verizon. In my email confirmation, it says that my iPhone has been FedEx'd over night. I wonder if I will get the phone before the 9th like Apple and Verizon were saying.....has anyone else seen this in their confirmation email?
The links from both Apple and VZW do not work for business accounts. ("error, we are trying to fix it...") We called. A VZW rep. said your company needs to contact us. We said, we are the company (we are the Pres. and CEO.) They said, after at least 10 handoffs, sorry, we can't do a preorder for a business account.

I was wondering the same thing. I saw it too and got very excited. Maybe we will get our iphones way earlier than expected? Wishful thinking?

It looks like Verizon is in a hurry to fix web site.

Dont use port 443.
Dont use port 443.
The right answer is to use HTTPS instead. That does not fix BROKEN link, though. It is a manual correction in address bar. AKA workaround.

Anyone find a workaround to this?
